Nah, you're right. Eko Fresh is one of the OGs of German rap. He's doing his own thing now, but he was part of Bushido's label around 10 or so years ago. They had some classics together. This is one of my fav songs.

If you're just getting into it, I recommend listening to guys like Kollegah, Bushido, Manuellsen, Sun Diego, Olexesh, Farid Bang, Eko Fresh, Massiv, Veysel, KC Rebell.

Here's a couple of fire songs from my playlist. PM me if you guys are interested in more stuff. Been listening to this stuff since high school lol.

That article's way back from 2005 lol. When gangsta German rap was starting, a lot of the old stock people there were scandalized because they weren't used to such lyrics. Aggressive lyrics like "f*** the police" that are considered normal in American rap drew a lot of attention there.

German gangsta rap has become a lot more mainstream since then. After the United States, Germany is the biggest producer and consumer of rap music in the world. The scene is huge. Tons of producers from USA/Canada work with German artists, and there's even a lot American rappers featured in German rap songs.
