What a joke of an offseason, Rockets fans I hope you enjoyed these last two years of playoffs runs.

To think that people actually thought Daryl Morey was better than Danny Ainge.

Tucker is the starting PF not anderson. Unless you think melo starts at sf (which is a bad idea) I dont know what need this fills unless its bench scoring which should help the rockets.

I think they move Tucker back to SF this year and have Carmelo start at PF. Tucker filled in nicely there last year, but I wouldn't want him playing so many minutes there again due to his lack of height. Carmelo obviously isn't going to improve a defense, but his extra length should help somewhat.

I know every likes to rag on Melo but for the veterans minimum it's not a bad pickup

If Chris Paul can't help him improve no one can.

Capela/Nene/Anderson
Melo/Anderson/Tucker
Tucker/Melo/Ennis/Green
Harden/Gordon/Green
Paul/Harden/MCW

Still don't see why people would want to bring Melo off the bench in favor of Ryan Anderson or James Ennis. It's not like either of those guys are lockdown defenders... Melo will be better then he was last year with this team. The style of play suits him way more.

Maybe FO is prepared to be in a position to match some unexpected Capela offer scenario.

How much is Melo paying the Rockets to play for them?

Houston team is stronger today than yesterday for sure, but Capela case is more important for their 2018-19 season.

I think Melo is a good pickup at the vet min; he does have modest upside.

However, Melo is now 34, and will be 35 by next postseason. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he's a complete non-factor. I could totally see this ending up like Joe Johnson.

Not a bad signing, but just not something to get excited about at this point. It's okay though, these are the types of players teams should fill out their roster with.

From where though? We already have, reportedly, $17/season on the table. Sacramento used up too much of their cap to beat that, Atlanta used up it's cap taking bad contracts/assets, and Chicago used theirs up on Lavine/Parker. There's no one out there with big, scary money left. I thought surely we were holding the tax MLE for Melo, and that's why we lost Moute. Now I know that's not the case, if Morey doesn't have something up his sleeve, I'm gonna be pissed. This is starting to sink of cost control, and the new owner better open up that wallet real wide, or get the **** outta town.

In what way does the style of play in Houston fit better with him? I'm asking a genuine question. Melo likes to iso with the ball. Houston's offensive gameplan is having either Harden or Paul with the ball for 20 sec in every possession. Melo would be a spot up 3 point shooter in the corner in this offense. He hated that in DAntoni's offense in NY. Hated that in OKC. Now here he is again.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

Lol, signing Melo for the vet min doesn't jeopardize the Rockets in the playoffs. If he stinks it up, they can easily cut him.

because Morey love to use MLE to sign second rounders
seem like he is saving it for Melton and Hartenstein

Melo was bought out. He has no incentive to take more than the minimum.

If he comes off the Bench I think he can be a valuable addition for them. If he demands to start and stifles their ball movement in exchange for inefficient iso-scoring, while playing no defense, it will make them much worse.

I hope for Houston's sake it's the former. Melo is a bench player at this point in his career.

Maybe so, but that's not the issue. I'm happy Melo took the min. Maybe it's a sign he'll swallow some ego to make this work, at least I hope so. The issue is why the hell didn't we match the Clippers offer? We had the exception sitting there. I get not paying Ariza $15 million, that's crazy money, but Moute for $4-5 million? That's a great deal, and we let him walk.

i don't care he start or reserve
the important part is who play the most min
CP3 start, but go to the bench after 4 min and return 4 min later
Morey said it perfectly
season opening roster =/= playoff roster
there is still trade deadline to make changes

He wasn't that in D'Antonis offense in NY. What are you talking about?

Also, D'antonis offense is completely different then it was in NY. Now he plays ISO ball and exploits mismatches. That's Melos game right there! OKC wants Russ to get the rebound and push, Melo is more of a half court player. Paul and Harden are also much better passers then Westbrook and George. They look to get guys opportunities way more then Westbrook who only really wants to pass if hes getting an assist.
Go Knicks!
