The inferiority complex among some of the fanbase is what makes them want to keep a player out of loyalty, rather than for basketball reasons. "He's the first star who wanted to stay, so we have to keep him" is exactly the kind of thinking that comes from an inferiority complex.
Sure. It also works the other way too where we bash ever player we leaves. We bashed TJ Ford for God's sake lol.
Works both ways
I'm sure when Kawhi leaves next year, we'll go to back to bashing Masai and Kawhi as well (I won't) but i'm sure there will bunch of posters who will.
Just 2 months ago, the narrative was, when is masai going to finish "evaluating", forever evaluating, too firing the most wins coach the raptors have ever had, and this core can't get it done.
Its funny because those will be the same people that were all "Fire Masai" "Trust fund baby" that switched to Masai is the greatest and if things go wrong will switch back to "Fraud Ujiri"

Good grief. This is such a heartless jackass comment. The franchise's best five years were in a big part because of Demar. Get a life.

It was very cringe worthy hearing people for firing masai for "evaluating". Guess they want an exciting offseason like the one Colangelo did in the 2009 summer. That was an exciting team, that 2009-2010 Raptors squad.

So glad we don't have a guy with this mentality on the team any longer. The Cavs were actually bad last year and completely there for the taking.
CH: In that same news conference, he talked about how he gave the team a chance when he took his role. Do you think it was necessary for the organization to make that move and trade you? Why didn't things work out?
DD: I mean, when you say "them," that's kind of frustrating. Like, who is "them"? You put the blame on just me and Casey? Because obviously we are the only two who had to suffer from the loss that we had in the Cleveland series. But it's only one team that we lost to in the postseason -- and that team went to the Finals every single year. With an opportunity approaching itself, my mindset and the rest of my teammates' mindset was the only guy who was in the way of making that happen leaves. Now we got a great opportunity to do something that we haven't been able to do. At the end of the day, I gave everything I had to that team. And it showed, it showed in the progress we made as a team and me as an individual. So when you put that out there saying "gave them chances" and "I have to do something"... It's B.S. to me.

You don't miss Kevin O'Neill as head coach and when Will Solomon was our starting PG and Joey Graham our starting SF? Grand years those were.

Also his argument is trash because the Pacers and Celtics took them to atleast game 7's. His best performance got us swept. Demar using Lebron was a weak move.

Demar is class. When he comes back it will be sold out and the ovation will be tremendous.

You didn't just lose. You lost as the favourites and you got swept when every other team took Lebron to 7.

I think in the 80's when Torontonians went off about being a "World Class City" they most definitely had an inferiority complex. Today it finally is a serious player as a world city. I think everyone knows that now and no longer needs to show off or envy American cities. Cities many of which are in dire need of major urban renewal and investment.

I also don't think I've ever seen an interview like this in professional sports. Ripping your former organization of 10 years in a televised media interview just because the GM didn't give you a "heads up" that you might be traded (despite all of the major rumours over the week previous that it would be a possibility) is completely ridiculous. Now it's totally understandable being upset about it, but it's time to be a professional. This is the opposite of how he should have reacted publicly and it is making all parties look bad.

When it's time for a new contract you let the raptors and the franchise know you're a max player and the franchise player. I deserve the max. But when we constantly lose to the Cavs, especially last year when we were better on paper at least, you feel the blame should be spread. You can't the a "superstar" when it's convenient Demar. You can tell he's mentally weak and thanked god lebron left the east. The west will really expose him, I'm telling you guys.

Lose in 7 or by seven or by four a loss is a loss. Boston, the new darlings of the east, with injuries, won three more games than us woopty do. Pacers? Lance got promoted to Bron Decision. We were never a tough team. End of silly story.

It seems unprecedented to fire your Coach of the Year and franchise player after fifty wins...
