Possible Trade

Post#1 » by DET_Athletics » Sat Jul 21, 2018 6:55 pm

This team still has some problems on Defense. I think a mid season trade for Dedmon and Bazemore will help shore up some weakness with both coming off the bench. A trade of Ish, Galloway and Leuer for Dedmon and Bazemore.

Jackson, Khyri Thomas
Bullock, Kennard, Brown
Johnson, Bazemore, Robinson III
Griffin, Ellenson
Drummond, Dedmon, Pachulia

That looks like a rounded out team to me, with the chance to put out stints of good defense.

They wouldn't take this deal, they'd laugh on the phone and close it. Only way of getting Bazemore was if we took on Shroder's contract which I'd be willing to but we'd be cap strained for 3 years straight.

I like Bazemore. They would want cap savings though. So you'd have to do Ish Ellenson Bullock and probably Galloway so then they only have Galloways $7mil compared to Baze at $19mil. If you could do it without Bullock I would. But then you'd have 5guys playing two positions. Tough.
Is it enough of an upgrade over Bullock? Plus you'd have to rely on Calderon as your backup PG.

I know. I was saying we missed out shot for Bazemore and Dedmon is a good center with a good long range shot. He's not going anywhere from Atlanta. Bazemore on the other hand is expensive 3&D player and he can be had for the right offer.

Would you guys trade Luke Kennard, Ish Smith and Jon Leuer to the Magic for Evan Fournier?

No Kennards the one player we've got with potential to become a above average starter who isnt on a 25mill+ contract

I would do too, but Gores wouldn't, that would put us way over the tax. Bazemore makes 18.1 million. Ish Galloway and Ellenson make 14.8 million.

And I don't think Bullock and Bazemore are close, I think Bullock fits the league better than Bazemore right now and his ability to cut to the basket is just perfect to play with Blake and Drummond.

Bazemore is solid, he is a plus defender and a good 3 point shooter but Bullock is better. Bazemore can put the ball on the floor and create way better than Bullock and he is more athletic but like I said I think Bullock is a better fit for us and for the league in general.

The direction the Pistons are going, yes. The direction I'd like them to go, no. Fournier's contract is one year too long.

Yes

Really?

Kennard is one of our only young players with upside. Ish is an expiring contract. Fournier makes 17 million per year on a contract one year LONGER than Jon Leuer.

Sometimes I think there are people on these forums that only look at the raw stats of players involved.

Regarding the OP trade, I don't think the Pistons trade Ish with the big ? of Reggie Jackson's health. I'll admit I like the idea of getting Bazemore (somewhat useful player) but only if we can dump Galloway and Leuer (two useless players). And to the Magic trade with Fournier and Kennard as the key pieces...hell nah. Pistons aren't giving up promising guys on rookie contracts for the likes of Fournier.

semi-OT:

There's no trade Thread so I guess this should go here, not related to the OP, but.

Would you take back Morris for Stanley Johnson? Who is your current GM and how important is SJ for your team going forward?

I wouldn’t, Stanley’s potential isn’t looking super high but there’s still that possibility things click given his age. With where we are at I would rather take a long shot on potential then settle for a know what you got in Morris.

How bout....

Leuer+Galloway+RJ+one of Luke/Bullock/SJ for Kemba+Batum

We take on Batums huge 3yr contract in order to upgrade at PG
They shave a year off Batums ridiculous contract and get a young wing prospect(probably SJ or Luke) and when healthy a pretty darn good PG ;)

Edit:I will now be retiring my offseason trade ideas lol. Youre welcome

Leuer+Galloway+RJ+SJ for Kemba+Batum works for me.
I can't imagine the Hornets doing it, but it works for me.
