I’ve appreciated his dedication and hard work and that he has improved his game every single year he’s been in the league. I appreciate his role in “helping” to move the team from terrible to very good. I say “helping” because he was a part of it, not the entire thing. He was a big part of it and deserves credit for that.

Now... that video made me sad for Demar.

He sees himself as the victim in this and fails to see any other point of view. His big issue with Masai was that didn’t give him any indication he might be involved in a trade and that’s the part he has a problem with.

Well Demar, everyone that’s been following this team even a little bit has been well aware “no player is untouchable” ... you are a part of that. That was your heads up. Also, every Kawhi trade rumour involving the raptors included your name ... there’s another heads up.

Your public campaign (this interview, Instagram posts) to play the victim and try to angle yourself as the poor innocent player who was treated badly in an attempt to paint Masai as the villain here is immature, childish and more importantly unprofessional.

This was a basketball transaction that was very foreseeable and there isn’t a good guy and a bad guy. Your treating this like a break up where the person dumped talks badly about the other publicly to get everyone on there side so they can feel better about themselves. It’s a childish way to deal with a break up. One day you will realize that the relationship you had with the raptors and Masai was mutually beneficial but also had run its course for both parties. Life will go on, so will basketball, you were not mistreated and there doesn’t always need to be a victim and a villain when personal relationships change.

Grow up Demar, it’s time.

Plus DeMar is known to put more time in the gym than anyone else improving his craft for the team, which may have negative impacted his troubles marriage, and definitely impacted the amount of time he was able to spend with his daughter. He was 100% committed to the Raptors 24-7.

My advice to DeMar on Page 1 of this thread when news of the interview surfaced and before it actually aired.

teamLeiweke wrote:Would be smart of him to say he is looking forward to playing for the Spurs now, excited to play for a historic franchise and all-time coach. Can’t wait to build chemistry with his teammates. Etc.

If he goes on camera and continues complaining about how the trade went down and talks bad about the Raptors or Masai, that’s gonna look really bad on him going forward.

Seems like he chose to say the latter, and most of you agree it’s not a good look on him at this point.

Finally home from work and got to watch the interview

Because obviously we are the only two who had to suffer from the loss that we had in the Cleveland series. But it's only one team that we lost to in the postseason -- and that team went to the [NBA] Finals every single year. With an opportunity approaching itself, my mindset and the rest of my teammates' mindset was the only guy who was in the way of making that happen leaves. Now we got a great opportunity to do something that we haven't been able to do. At the end of the day, I gave everything I had to that team. And it showed, it showed in the progress we made as a team and me as an individual. So when you put that out there saying "gave them chances" and "I have to do something" ... it's B.S. to me.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Wow

This is why I was glad DD was traded. I respect him for repping Toronto but god this is disgusting. The defeatist attitude is rubbing me the wrong way and he has the ****ing audacity to say what Masai said in the presser is BS? Masai was right about giving this core a chance, time and time again DD failed to elevate his game and gives bull**** answer that its because of Lebron. 9 years with babied him, no one called out his **** defense, we gave him free reign on offense to chuck his stupid mid-range. Yes this was on DD becuase he was the proclaim superstar of this team and Lebron embarrassed us back to back years.

2 ****ing years we were the laughing stock of the NBA, even more so this year after getting so much attention as the one to finally dethrone Cleveland. What happened? DD was benched in game 3 and ejected in game 4. He made JR and Korver look like prime Allen.

I'm getting sick of Demar at this point. I get that getting traded hurt but you did this to yourself with those **** ass instagram post forcing Masai's hand during the PC to speak the truth.

"Who is them?" I'll tell you who is them DeMar DeRozan. Them is Cory Joseph. Them is Patrick Patterson. Them is DeMarre Carroll. Them is Amir Johnson. Them is James Johnson. Them is Terrence Ross. Them is Greivis Vasquez, Landry Fields, PJ Tucker. Them is Lou Williams, Bismack Biyombo, Tyler Hansbrough. Them is anyone who has come and gone, traded or not re-signed, as teams try to get better or go a different direction for the best interest of the organization. Just you DeMar and Dwane Casey?

You are so self delusional that you even forgot to mention Jakob Poeltl, as you were talking about yourself and Dwane Casey being the only two to "Suffer from the loss that we had in Cleveland series." Yea, Jakob also had to "Suffer" no DeMar?

And now we can confirm that DeMar did ask about whether or not he was being traded. Why did you ask DeMar? Why? Was it because of trade rumours going around, with your name being tagged with it? Was it because you fully understood that management made it clear that NO ONE would be made untouchable anymore? If you were untouchable, your name wouldn't be rumoured in trades. Did Masai lied to you when he said, yea your name is part of trade discussions going around, but nothing is imminent because we're not at the top of the list like the Lakers, Clippers, 76ers, Celtics are, so a trade is unlikely at the time, and therefore any GM would have to assume that the current roster is the roster moving forward at the very time of the discussion.

The one thing that was the most revealing in this interview is how much he has gotten comfortable in Toronto and playing for the Raptors. He came off as someone who was so comfortable that he thought he was above all, above the team, above the city. He came off as someone who took zero (0) responsibility and accountability for all the playoff failures. It's like, don't blame me, blame the role players. I'm the Superstar. You can't trade me. Don't touch me. Get rid of the role players, make changes to the roster as you see fit from 1-14, as long as it's not me I'm good with it.

I can go on much longer than this, but I won't. This 20+ minute interview was disgusting. :nonono:

Trade talks are going to happen all the time. Judging by how little info leaks out from the Toronto front office, it's safe to say that it is policy to not tell players if they actually are going to be potentially traded. This makes sense for several reasons. It's an issue if the trade falls through and you have a potentially upset player. It's also potentially free information out there for teams to be aware of putting yourself at a competitive disadvantage. One thing that I'm sure happens is if an Agent is unhappy about the destination his client is going to, he can leak info out there hoping another team jumps in there instead.

Really wish Demar would stop sh*tting on his own legacy, because you know he'll complain about that too. You were very good player given a lot by the organization. Time to move on my friend.

Why are you guys taking it personal... as if hes talking about us... hes talking about Raptors! Stop the bash and hate. There is 2 sides to a story. He was a goat raptor for what he did for us. Under him we had the most success! Hes not better than Vince as a player but he is goat raptor. Masai and Demar will make up. He represented Toronto and loved this city. Its funny how people taking it personal like he talked about our city or fans. It was the organization which we will never know. People who hate demar are not real raptors fan because he took us to where we are now. Good luck Demar ! Lets enjoy Kawhi without trashing demar

You my friend are a smart man and a true RAPTORS fan. Never has DD EVER said I played bad and its on me I have to be better. He got fat and his ego got big. He thinks he is to the Raptors what Kobe was to the Lakers. Like how dare you trade me. I swear to God when LBJ was guarding DD he wanted no parts, when he drove to the basket and LBJ was waiting he wanted no parts. When the stakes are the highest and the lights are brightest DeFrozen is all bark no bite. I was happy he was traded because I never saw him the same since the Wizards sweep. But I knew his flaws were not really his fault and he was given a job he was never qualified for so never held it against him. But this, I have lost all respect for him. He was traded to the SPURS in a no income tax state, a lot closer to his kids, and has his great friend Rudy there, and maybe the GOAT coach. But no this mental midget has to cry like he was sent to the Detroit with Casey.

He's going after our team when we need to sign Kawhi. He's specifically taking shots at Masai and stirring issues. It's the organization we cheer for. Anyways, people who think DD took us to where we are now are not real raptor fans because, as another poster said, its disrespectful to all the players who contributed to this team past and present - Lowry, JV, Biz, Patterson, Wright, FVV, Poetl, Siakam, to just name a few.

Very well said. Many players got let go off this team before DeRozan/Casey, hence why Masai brought up the whole "I gave them chances" thing. But I guess since they aren't all-stars like him it doesn't matter according to him.

DeMar wasn't serious about playing defense and it caught up with him. It's all on you friend. What you offered was not jiving with your salary, and this team was maxed out. If you can't see that you are full of yourself. We got far better value in a league that revolves around prime talent.

^^I must agree with all this right here^^

The more he talks the more he sounds like an entitled lil btch.

Sucks to be traded. He genuinely seemed to love it here but c'mon man, grow up. Act like an adult. Stop crying and come back stronger..not that I think that could happen.

Could have been traded to a much worse situation.

Return to Toronto Raptors
