President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I personally think his value is going to drastically change.
Hes coming of a sub-par year (For him) in which he was injured and the team under performed while having a lot of money owed.

I think a perfect storm has happened with the East opening up, John being healthy, our core being in their prime, Dwight, our depth, etc.... I think Wall has a great year.

Then you look at the amount of player who will be making 30M+ and 40M+ over the next or two, and it really makes Walls deal palatable. Look at what Love just got 147M over 5 years.
Tobias Harris, Kemba, Klay, Kyrie, Jimmy Butler, KAT, Porzingis, KD, Kawhi, Boogie...

plus the salary cap and luxury tax increasing drastically, which totally changed my perception on the supermax.

Wall just needs to stay healthy next season and play in a system where we play small WAY more so he has even better spacing with Otto at the 4. He could probably average some ridiculous numbers like 23&12 and wreak havoc on defense because he can actually play his free safety style of defense because we can successfully switch not just lazily switch and give up layups.

pre surgery Wall vs healthy playoff Wall was completely different.

More small ball and more conversions at the rim because Dwight Howard can dunk things that Gortat could not ...

I think it is just as important for Otto Porter to stay healthy as it is for John Wall to be healthy
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

He needs an off the ball game badly so the rest of the players aren't playing 4 v 5 in half court offensive sets. If he does that it can have a trickling effect for him. He won't have to dominate the ball as much and expend energy. Less injuries. More energy to try on defense.

**** the workouts. Learn how to cut and shoot set 3 pointers better.

I really don’t think he needs an off ball game. Brooks should just stagger Wall and Beal more. Have the ball in Walls hands when he’s out there, let Beal play with the bench more and handle the ball. That would allow us to not have to go get a Jodie Meeks or Austin Rivers (not that we need them at all whatsoever anyways)

Hell, he doesn’t even need to work on anything honestly, if he just cut out the 4-5 dumb shots a game and played defense at all, he would raise his impact significantly. Watch some Chris Paul highlights and read some self help books FFS

I agree with nuposse04.

Wall needs an off-the-ball game so that Sato and Beal can exploit mismatches when they have them. There will be times when it makes sense to run the offense through Sato or Beal. Wall needs to do more than just stand in the corner and allow his defender to cheat in the paint.

Just look at how effective "everybody eats" was. Beal often initiated the offense, but since Sato was so good off the ball with backdoor cuts, it worked out pretty well despite Beal's less-than-stellar primary ball handler skills.

But you just said it, Sato is good off ball, Sato and Beal were a dynamite combo.

Let Beal play PG with Sato off ball. In theory, if you actually used Sato as a 3rd guard, you should never have any issue.

Of course we all agree, Wall should improve off ball, but I just don’t think it’s really what limits his effectiveness. It’s lack of effort and commitment to making the right play.

I mean s***, if Scott Brooks played Brandon Jennings next to me, I would stand in the corner with my hands on my knees and never move.

I agree that John needs to play off the ball more.
Brooks said they're gonna play him off the ball more next season. The idea is that the offense is more varied and dangerous when we can mix it up and attack with different guys initiating the offense.

Sato and Beal were a dynamite combo early on after Wall went out...but then teams started aggressively double teaming Beal when he had the ball, which led to a lot of turnovers and forced shots late in the shot clock. That's when it became obvious that we missed Wall.

Sato and Beal had a higher net rating than Wall and Beal

Sato Beal and Porter also had a higher net rating than Wall Beal and Porter

Don't know what's meant by "net rating." All I know is that neither Sato nor Beal are very good at making teams pay for double teaming them...but Wall is. That's the point I was making.

The Zards were a sub-.500 team last season when Wall didn't play. When Wall played 78 games the season before we won 49 games. That's the "net rating" I consider most important. :)

Wow. Is it really just all John Wall? Wall to wall Wall, as it were. :)

W/ John Wall 49 wins. W/o John Wall sub-.500. That's the "net rating?"

Is that what you're saying? Nobody on the Wizards matters anywhere near as much as John Wall; John Wall is a player in a different class of excellence than any other player on the Wizards.

You don't think that the 49 win season had anything important to do w/ Beal having his best year? Or with Porter playing incredibly well? Or, for that matter, w/ your guy Kieff having the best 6-week stretch of his career, during which we went 21-3? Just John Wall.

& the sub-.500 stretch this season had nothing to do with Porter being dinged up or Beal playing a lot more minutes than he usually does, I guess? Just John Wall being absent.

John Wall is a really good player when he's healthy. (No player is good when he's not healthy) We're not as good a team without a healthy John Wall as we are with a healthy John Wall. Moreover, we aren't a good enough team that we are even *nearly* as good w/o him. I don't think anybody here would deny that.

Why isn't that enough? That's what I wonder.

Edit -- too d@md argumentative. So I'm striking it all through -- rather than remove it. That way I'll be more thoughtful next time!

That's enough for me. Don't know why you get so bent out of shape when some of us simply point that out.
