Anyone check this out? Durant Says he loves Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Zero chance. If he leaves GS it will be an LA/NYC team then go home to the Wiz at the end of his career

I think someone posted something about this a day or two ago. It's good to be noticed by superstars even if it's just for the location

Considering Beverly should be a low cost acquisition, it's more than a reasonable risk to take.

I think the Clippers are keeping him or want a really good player for him -- or picks at this point. Where as was hoping Daniels would get it done - it might take Chriss or they will keep him. Not saying Chriss is a good player but potentially he might be. I would probably not do Beverly for Chriss at this point.

I'd consider Chriss for Pat Bev if it's true that Beverely is healthy. We're going to have to decide whether we are going to pick up Chriss's team option or not and at this point in time, it doesn't seem like we would. $4m isn't a huge sum but you don't just pick up an option just to pick up an option especially when we're looking to maximise cap space for next offseason.

I wouldn't move Bender just yet though

Nonsense.

Our whole squad hasn't even shared the floor yet, and people already want to trade half of them away...
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Its only because we pretty much all know we likely won’t be any better than the 11th best team in the West with our current roster.

LOL!

Actually, no - I'm just an old fart who, in over 40 years of watching basketball, has never seen a player that's undergone a microfracture procedure and not come back worse - especially at or near Patrick Beverley's age of 30 (Amare was 22 when his was done, Penny Hardaway was 29 - now, how did they fare at 30?).

Beverley's one elite skill is/was suffocating and frustrating defense - now, tell me how he can maintain that when he can barely move?

Not to mention the fact that, even without the microfracture, Beverley is not, never has been and, at this point, never will be a distributor.

Nah - I'll stick with our taller, younger, quicker, healthier and infinitely more athletic version in Shaquille Harrison.

And, seeing as there are reports that Markelle Fultz has got his game squared back around, I'd work a Troy Daniels ($3 mil) + 2nd round pick(s) trade with Philadelphia for T.J. McConnell ($1.6 mil) + whatever salary filler instead.

Beverly is a much better 3pt shooter than Harrison though. And the whole idea is to surround Booker and Ayton with as many shooters (who can defend) as possible since neither one of them can defend much yet.

Point is, how can he defend when he can't even move? Especially laterally? Same goes for getting his shot off.....

Durant has come a long way from the likable "you're the real MVP" to where he is now. The dude can't say anything positive. He's a dick through and through. Just stay quiet and be humble. You know what you did and fans don't like you because of it. Don't make people hate the person as much as the player though. That's what it feels like he's doing now.

Personally I think it makes zero sense to not pick up a young high pick rookie contract options before the season really starts in our scenario when they've only played 2 years under Earl Watson and then Triano trying to take over without a training camp. A brand new coach should get more time with them...and they are young. The Magic may have made a mistake with Hezonja. Maybe not, but you can't give up that soon on potential talent, particularly in our situation. They have both shown some good signs at times.

I mean so many teams have cap space and we are pretty much guaranteed to have near $20 million IF we keep Shaq and Reed after this season (more like $23 if we don't) and then we can be near $29-$32 if we stretch Knight.

Then of course you subtract our draft pick...which may be about $5-7 million.

I doubt we will get a max guy...but if we can get a guy to agree we can dump contracts then. It will be easier to dump contracts next summer without giving up significant compensation since so many teams have cap space.

I think it would be dumb not to pick up the option on Chriss or Bender unless you already decided you would trade them. And they probably have more trade value if you do pick up the option because the team wouldn't have an expiring but a young player they could try out for a year and a half and have RFA rights.

I think it makes no sense to pick up the option of unproductive young players just to pick it up. If you're going to pick it up for the purpose of trading it, fine do it. But if you're looking for max cap space, you're going to have to move on from players who have had very little impact in their time here. I think you have to think long and hard about adding $10m to the books for two players that's that's really done nothing. I think we'll pick up one option but I don't think we'll pick up both.

Imagine if the difference between signing a star player is that $4m and we picked up the option on Chriss who hasn't shown he's a surefire NBA player because.... :dontknow:

I won't be real surprised if they cut one of them if they have determined that they don't think they are worthy of the team and are already trying to trade them. There were reports Chriss was available. But I think if they are working with guys and Igor is working with them I think it would be dumb to cut them unless Igor simply said "This guy has no hope".

If we need to create an extra $4 million for a guy in your extraordinary scenario, that we are signing a superstar, I think we will be able to do it regardless. A guy like Chriss or Bender, even if they don't do much this year, will likely hold some value to a team like Atlanta who has cap space and are tanking anyway...not value to where they would give something up necessarily, but to where it wouldn't require us to trade a pick to dump the contract if we had that superstar lined up...could probably do it with a top 55 protected 2nd.

I do not think it is dumb not to pick up the option on Chriss or Bender. I think it is a legit option.

There is too much money invested (around $10M) in a couple of end of the bench players.

I know that you have talked about Hezonja as a lottery pick who his team did not pick up his TO. But what about Okafor? And what about Thomas Robinson? Or our beloved Kendall Marshall? I am naming off the top of my head.

It is not crazy to admitt an error (or a couple of errors) and bring better players to the roster.

Personally I am not sure about the decision yet. We have training camp and preseason games to evaluate Bender and Chriss.

I would like to watching them play way better basketball and pick up both their options, but if they do not show improvement I would be OK with parting ways with one or both of them.

I am gonna trust Kokoskov about this decision. Hopefully McDonough trusts in him too.

I'll concede that "barely move" might be an exaggeration, but he's certainly not going to be able to move anything like he did before - especially laterally.

He gets upset that CJ called him soft after the podcast meanwhile, like you said, just a day or 2 before, he craps on Portland saying they aren't winning anything. Well....they aren't winning because of the soft move Durant made. So he's just adding onto what KD already said.
