I remember Kobe stating in an interview that he had an open door policy with all the young Lakers. Whether they wanted to workout or watch tape, he would always be available. He also mentioned that nobody took him up on the offer.

The young Tatum is offering glimpses into what has made him the phenom that he is. He just wants it.

He averaged 14/5/1 in 33 mins/g.

What a phenom.

As a rookie on team that went to the EFC

You cannot disrespect that. That is really good. Not magic Johnson good. But really good
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Does he care that much about the Lakers any more?

He worked with Kawhi too, didn’t he?

Is this really Lakers-related?

don't really care about Tatum unless he's on the team or planning to be in the future.

Hakeem has worked out with non Rockets after his career was over. Not sure what the issue is here. Kobe's not employed by the Lakers is he?

You guys are funny. Kobe incorporated MJ, Dr J, Larry, Hakeem, Duncan, Dirk, and many others into his game. And now you are bitter he's giving it back. Hilarious!

Hundreds of rookies have averaged 14/5/1 or better. That is NOT "really good". And are you really using team playoff performance in the weak ass EC as an excuse to prop him up? **** Tatum and mother **** the Celtics.

Honestly,
Please provide a list of rookies who averaged what he did and was on a team that made the conference finals

He was an integral part of the team. Hell, he even became the main offensive focus after the injuries

Outside of rookie year magic Johnson, I can’t think of anyone else off the top of my head.

This past year, Simmons and Mitchel were close

Whether or not he he plays for the Celtics shouldn't affect your evaluation of a player. Anyone with a functioning pair of eyeballs can tell that Tatum is really freaking talented and that he qualifies as a phenom. Most rookies just don't have the kind of polished scoring skillset that Tatum has. And when it comes to the playoffs, Tatum averaged 18.5 PPG on 58% TS. And he was doing a lot of that off-the dribble, while never being a ball-hog and still playing within Stevens' offense. Weak conference or not, those numbers and how he got those numbers are impressive for a rookie.
