For the last week or so I have been running my expansion franchise. Getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. The first few seasons I pretty much simmed and spent a long time on the draft trying to find the right players. I purposely tanked hard and set a 5 year plan where after year 5 I would be ready to contend.
In 2K its very easy, especially if you tank early, to rack up a lot of first round picks. Did a lot of deals and by year 4 or 5 I pretty much have first round picks every for the next few years. I will continue to trade them and stockpile so I cant constantly bring in new high end draft picks when my players start to get old. If an NBA team could ever do this in real life, they would pretty much have a constant dynasty, you contend for a title every year while still getting top ten picks every year I usually have two picks in the lottery.
I drafted a lot of euro stach players early on. I see that usually works out nicely. They grow quite a bit over seas and when they come over they are almost always at least decent role players. So around year 4 I started watching a lot of the games. I would either simcast a bunch and jump in if the game was tight or I would watch random interesting full games, I pretty much have had my xbox on running these games for several hours a day and been checking in.
Its been entertaining and I am really getting to like my Vancouver Ravens. My players are starting to take on their own little personalities. In the 2019 season I forced a Lebron to LA trade cause I wanted to see what would happen. They won the title in 2021 and Lonzo Ball became an MVP player (I swear they hype the hell out of Lakers PG's. In 2K16-17 Russell always became an amazing HOF level player. Now they make Lonzo turn into one).
2026 Lebron decides to retire at 38 but I make him stay another season as he was still rated like 94. My team lost their star SF at the start of the season, he broke his ankle against the Lakers. I found a trade where I sent my beloved Russian role player Semenko to the Nuggets for another SF but he seemed like a better fit. He had some great 3 point shooting numbers and he was younger. For some reason the Nuggets wanted Semenko bad and I made the move. Lewis had great 3 point shooting ability but his tendencies were ultra low. I shifted them and he became a really nice outside shooting piece though he still doesnt take as many as he should.
That season I also had a great rookie PF, really high level. Like an 82 out of the gate, pretty much like when we had rookie KAT. Though my team stuggled during the season we did really well in the playoffs and got to the conference finals against LA who kind of fell off after they won their title. I watched every game.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.
