I haven't played much lately. I was playing Horizon Zero Dawn and going for 100%, as I usually do in games, but I got bored. I feel like "open world" is shoehorned into everything now, and I get tired of walking around a huge world for no reason. Being empty isn't great, but what's worse than being empty is being waylaid by enemies all the time that essentially give you nothing for killing them. I'd rather it just be empty. Technically you get XP and loot, but the low level loot doesn't matter and the XP becomes negligible after a certain point. Besides, a lot of games now also shoehorn in the XP system, and there isn't much of a difference between level 1 and level 30. Because there can't be. If someone wants to skip everything and only do the main quests, they have to be able to, so the game isn't designed around strict level requirements. All the skills are useless and everything is pointless. That's how I describe a lot of these mainstream games now.
I'll be getting the Shenmue collection, since I have fond memories of playing the first one on Dreamcast and I never played the second. I'll also be getting the new Dragon Quest. Other than that, I don't know if there's anything else I'll be playing soon, aside from daily Fire Emblem Heroes on mobile. I really want a Switch for Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, etc, but I really don't want to buy one yet. What are the chances that the current model will remain the primary model for the entirety of the Switch's lifespan? Both of the other consoles got upgraded, and Nintendo upgraded the 3DS. Surely there will be a new model at some point.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.
- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.
