Not that this is a comparison, but, that is what they said about Larry Bird. Could not jump, not athletic, touch slow, etc.

Hey, they said the same thing about Magic too.

I think he's on to something there. Clearly every player that's unathletic and will have a hard time guarding NBA level competition is destined for future greatness.

Your 'counter absurdity' is compelling. I was surprised to learn that Jerry West was known for having a big wingspan?

I'll never forget when Luke was drafted, Jay Bilas said the following:

"He's 6'6" with a 6'4" wingspan..... wait, how is that even possible??????"

I'm sure it's possible, but in this case it's not accurate. At the combine Luke measured 6'4.5" (socks) with a 6'5.5" wingspan. (i'm thinking this is repetitive?) It's summer, but I saw some reference to his having grown some? Still, it's probably safe to say he'll never be a wingspan freak. I'm not saying he's a hit, just that he doesn't look like a "bust" so far. Don't think he's untradeable, but if he makes the kind of jump he did from year one to year two at Duke, the trade had better yield a good looking prospect. Isn't this the modern NBA, where putting the ball through the hoop is paramount?

I think that was Jaylen Rose who said that but yeah definitely not ideal. I think Blake Griffin has a little Trex wingspan as well, it might actually be even with his height. Griffin is also really big and has other world athleticism not to have to worry about it though.
