Careful now babydoll I got something for you. I just realized how bad your team sucks at points, Ft% and threes. Yikes!

I'm punting those categories.
Everybody knows this. Well, maybe not you rookies but you know now.
I've been punting those since the beginning. I was the best last year in FG%, rebounds, blocks, 2nd in steals and 3rd in assists, while being a middle of the pack guy in turnovers.
This is a H2H league, not roto. I only need 5 cats to win my matchup every week. There have been very few guys who have stolen one of the 5 cats mentioned above in the last season, thus winning the matchup, Optms being the only guy who beat me twice since he was also very strong in steals and assists.

Oh okay I haven’t seen someone punt 3 categories before lol has that been working?

Re: Award Winning Lakers Board NBA Dynasty League - Year 5 - Drafting - Gus Mccrae is up
I lost in the Finals last season and I'm still butthurt.
I had 70 something steals against tugs in the semifinals, and somehow ended with 35 ish in the finals....so I lost one of my cats and thus the matchup against Ty, 4-5. I needed 7 **** steals, that's it. It's not like he had an incredible number, it's just I underachieved. That was my season low in steals, in the Finals of this thing nontheless.
It's a double edged sword, when things don't go my way and lose one of the cats it's tough to win. Although it's better now, I somewhat added the turnovers category as well, I matchup well with the best teams in the league there so I can afford to drop one cat from my strong 5 from time to time and still win the matchup.
When I started I basically had 4 punting categories, since I had turnover prone guys. I tried to correct this for years, and add a 6th strong cat. I'm content with the results of last season, but I can do even better.

Interesting, yeah the downside I see is your limited on the waiver as well because you’re only looking for certain types of players. I’d rather have flexibility to load up on certain categories that are close via the waiver if there’s a close match up

I think there's more parity between teams this year - more possible contenders and fewer trash rosters.

That actually works in my favor. For me the biggest challenge every year is to make it to the playoffs.I like my chances against anyone if I get there, even as a low seed.
Due to my strategy,I have a lot of 5-4's so the numbers don't always add up to be sufficient for a top 6.
Even against the **** teams, I still usually win 5-4. Whereas the top dogs can do 7-2 or 8-1.
Parity just means the weekly matchups will be closer for the other teams as well, so that improves my chances to get through.

Working on a sorta preseason Power Rankings based on spreadsheet from a guy who did a full stats projection on the entire league.
It ain't much, but at least it's a somewhat objective source.
Some of the projections are absurd(Willy and Giles playing 12 mpg for **** sake, and Bogz with worse stats than his rookie season in more minutes) but I left them be as they are, since I bet there's questionable calls for some guys on most teams.
7/12 teams done, I will finish it by Monday at the latest, assuming Gus makes the final pick of the draft by then.

Sorry was in the mountain so with very limited reception the past 3 days. I feel like it’s a mistake but I don’t have it in me to find the best free agents so I’ll just not use my 2nd pick

Re: Award Winning Lakers Board NBA Dynasty League - Year 5
I'm too bored to write anything here, I wrote everything by hand on a textbook.
I used this:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HO2Cxfj1-Pi5mA4hJdQn4R9iyZiSd8pHjDd9rqlDT8A/edit#gid=0
It's a raw thing who doesn't ecuate for injuries, weekly scheduling, luck, players under/overachieving, etc.
Buuuut....I did a sum of everything, a percentile based record of every stat category used in the league and used 3 criterias for an overall determination of team prowess. Overall wealth(all categories), top 6 category strength(it's a H2Hleague, you don't need 9 average cats, you're better served of having 6 great ones) and overall matchup projection based on the stats of players on each team.

Re: Award Winning Lakers Board NBA Dynasty League - Year 5

You can further calculate the percentiles from league average/league best from here. Or just use them in a H2H matchup scenario. Obviously the closer the percentages are, there's a better chance to offset the difference with the variables mentioned above(injuries, scheduling, statistical anomalies from players).
The bigger the difference, odds are the things are staying the same.
Ex: A guy like Regime will never beat me in rebounds, but I will never beat him in 3's. No matter the variables. Life could end on earth and I'll still win rebounds.
