yeah, hard not to like the guy. it will also be nice to have a guy who plays above the rim. outside of allen we ddint have that last year and havent had it for a while. with Faried/Davis.Allen we have alot more of that now

I miss having a wing like VC, RHJ or even Gerald Green that played above the rim. Diallo could have been him.

Yeah, its always nice to have a wing who can throw it down. Diallo has the hops for sure, but i dont think he will really be able to get minutes.

hopefully we draft a bigtime athlete next year.

Eh Diallo isn't in that category hope I'm wrong but I don't think he'll be that good.

I don't know if he'll be good either, but he's an athletic freak. He and LeVert could have recreated that MarShon to Green alley oop.

Kenny has proven to get uncomfortable playing ONE non-shooter for long stretches. I'd be shocked if we go with Faried at the 4 next to Davis or Allen. I think Dudley or DMC end up taking the backup 4 spot. With Faried getting spot minutes here and there at the 5 or in case of injury.

Trevor Booker played a bunch of 5 last year. With Allen + Ed Davis, the time and role just isn't there.

i dont see the value in buying him out. we wouldnt really gain much cap space wise to sign anyone. Faried is a local guy, great teammate, and replaces alot of the off the court/intangable on court stuff with booker, which i think really had an impact last year.

i dont really agree that Kenny had an issue playing 2 non-shooters last year, as we saw quite a bit of RHJ/Allen, RHJ/Zeller, and RHJ/Mozgov. DMC didnt spend much time at PF and we really only had shooting bigs on the second unit because there was no alternative (Acy was better then any big not named allen).

I agree, they want shooters and to shoot threes but just as much they want to run and score in transition (as they encouraged with booker) and faried is a beast in transition

but it really boils down to, if you buyout faried, and gain say 2.5-3.5 million, who do you sign that provides more value? i think the best you could do is bring back acy or cunningham, but you could have done that for the minimum

I thought we would buy him out mostly to just do him a favor. He's a vet who wants to play. Putting him in a role he's not happy with on a non-playoff team is tough. He seems to be okay with the role though.

DMC didn't play a ton at the 4 but he played a decent amount. So did Acy. It's not like we had unlimited options but if we were down big or it was crunch time, Kenny leaned towards shooters. RHJ and Allen were benched at times they easily could've played. Don't forget that Zeller turned into a nice corner 3pt shooter with us too.

But look, I'm happy Faried's on the team. I've been a fan since college. Energy bigs are always useful especially for 10-15 minutes a game. I was mostly worried about how happy he'd be in the role. I do think DMC and Dudley eat into his minutes a lot though.

Yeah its good to have a local product on the team as well.

If RHJ expanded his range this offseason I would go nuts for a small ball line up with Faried and RHJ on the floor at the same time. the energy would be infectious.

Yeah Zeller was hitting some bombs, that was my dude right there. Very professional and he stayed ready to compete despite starting out 3rd on the depth chart up front. I still wish he was on this team.

If Allen and RHJ improve as 3point shooters i can see Faried fitting in. it will be a long shot though

Great competition for RHJ during a contract year. Two Warriors battling for starting PF the way I see it.

Imagine if Kenny can bring out the best of Faried like he did with DMC and others? :o :o :o

the issue with Faried is the fact that he will have to fit his skill set within the offense like RHJ and Booker did. Booker worked in the offense because he was able to push the ball and produce around the rim. RHJ works because he can push the rock, pass, get to the line and he developed a nice mid range game. Faried imo slots in as a small ball 5 on this roster based on how Kenny uses guys and I dunno if I like that either. Of course, Kenny may see something in training camp and practice that could change things for him big time. You never know, this is the same coach who is responsible for Al Horford becoming a legit 3point threat.

if you can't stretch the floor or produce your own offense, its kind of a tough fit. I'll be rooting for him though.

I dont think we need our bigs to stretch the floor, we have shooters all over 1 through 3. I dont really see that as a concern. He doest everything booker did only he does it better and does it way above the rim. He is great in the open floor, both with and without the ball... at the pace we play at, and how active he is, i think its a great fit. we also get another guy who can screen and catch a lob

booker is going to sign in china, he is already out of the league. faried is an upgrade over booker if he plays like he can.
