Whoa. The Padres' farm system is ludicrous...they had the #3, #13, #29, #32, #33 and #42 prospects entering the year per MLBPipeline, and just added another top-15 guy.

Do you think this trade is an encouraging indication of what we can get for Happ and some of our relievers?

Hand has three years of team control remaining, so he'd be more valuable than any of our pieces. Encouraging that, in a market that could be saturated with relief options, people are apparently still willing to pay top dollar for them, I guess.

Perhaps next year teams will have forgotten about Osuna’s DV, and we can trade him for a top prospect. Didn’t stop the Cubs from trading Gleyber Torres for Chapman.

He even looks like the biggest jerk in the MLB.

Have no idea how the Phillies are good, watching some of the stupid **** they’re doing vs the Red Sox. Two colossally f’ed up plays.

Would you have taken what we got Osuna, or Mejia (1 big time prospect?), if something like this was even offered by any of the teams interested.

100% Mejia personally, would much rather have a high upside guy

Red Sox really pulling away from the Yankees in this series.

Nearly 90% odds of winning the division now per Fangraphs, despite the Yankees maintaining a 100+ win pace. It's nice to check the Red Sox payroll on Cot's, and their farm system on MLBPipeline, to remind myself that this probably won't continue indefinitely.

Something to consider if Gibby also steps down after the season?

IDK. They obviously traded off a lot of prospects the last 2 years but still have a pretty impressive base of younger players on their roster and still possess the ability to spend their way out of mistakes. I don’t think they’re going away anytime soon.

They have a lot of players who are about to need massive raises, and even with their payroll they cannot afford them all. Kimbrel's an FA after this year; Sale, Porcello and Bogaerts after 2019, Betts and JBJ after 2020. Even if they're willing to pay the repeater tax, they're going to have great difficulty hanging on to all of their talent.

Never.
