Nuggets Over/Under 47.5

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Mon Aug 6, 2018 2:19 pm

Over/Under is not a realistic projection - it is the odds makers view on what it will take for the house to win money on betters

With that said, if you were a gambler, where would you bet the Nuggets?

As a Nuggets fan, I want to say "over" and I certainly believe "over" is where they will be compared to last year when they won 46 games. But when I look at what other teams have done, can the Nuggets win more games? Sure, I'm not a fan of Malone and think trading him out might be worth 4 or 5 games but then again, his replacement might cost us 4 or 5 games. We have to play the hand that we've been dealt.

Looking at the rest of the West and looking for teams that are likely to change their win total in a significant manner:

Portland is projected to drop quite a bit - I'm not sure they'll drop as far as projected but they might help us
OKC seems likely to drop a few more games
San Antonio seems like they might drop a few
Minnesota seems likely to lose a few more games

That all bodes well for the Nuggets

LAL will probably win more games

I think the Nuggets winning 48 will require serious effort in every game but I truly believe they have the potential to win 50 games.

I think 47.5 is too low, 1.5 games improvement from such a young team would be disappointing.

Yeah, I'd take the over on that one. I see this team winning at least 50 games barring injuries (again). I say we're looking at a 52 wins given health, not even counting that of MPJ or Vanderbilt.

50.5

Compared to last season and how many young Denver players should improve, how many games Millsap should play this time, and how IT should to improve our bench, I would say 55.5! But unfortunately, many other teams from the West also improved. So, 50.5 is most realistic Nuggets projections IMO.

52? I love my Nuggets but I have one question to ask Sky: What color is that kool aid?

I could see them doing 52 plus but only if they let Jokic be 30%+ usage and develop a defensive scheme - and the defense is less important!

It’s not the color of your kool aid, it’s whats inside that counts

Last year we were missing our 2nd best player for 44 games and he played 1 handed the last 18 games, we may as well have been without the guy most people had as our 7th man all last year with Juancho. Malone insisted on trying his bull systems twice before the Jokic system was put back in, and Malone still never figured out a real system on defense. 52 games is not really that out of hand, I am thinking 55 is high and anything less than 50 is low, so thats right in there.

Unless of course Malone wants to implement a Barton centered offense.

We might have more talent but our detrimental coach remains... as long as he's calling the shots we might still lose half the season to questionable offensive sets

Return to Denver Nuggets
