Re: Game 1: @Portland
Probably a L. Rose Garden has been historically a butt*ole for us, we rarely got wins there.
When you factor in half the roster needs to be integrated, and the shortened training camp/preseason, I think we won't be ready to steam on full cilinders at the opener.

We got LBJ baby... Don’t sleep on us baby... We match up well with Portland or any wing based attack... We have athleticism & length on the wings... Zo (6’6”), KCP (6’5”), Hart (6’5”) & Ingram (6’9”)... I would prefer a home game but I like the matchup...

Lebron's first game as a Laker on the road. Not sure what they were thinking with this one.

Bring it on!
I imagine a good chunk of fans in the arena will be lakers fans.

What's even more weird is that our home opener is on a Saturday night.
When's the last time we had a home game on a Saturday?

To be fair it is genius on the part of Silver to make the NBA a saturday night sports attraction and give families something to do on the weekends especially as football divides fans more and more. It's strategic on him and the NBAPA imo to make Saturdays special

I always thought it was the Lakers’ decision to not play at home on Saturday’s. We typically do Tues-Thurs-Sunday.
And Saturday nights don’t always lead to good ratings. People generally get together to watch games on Sat nights. On Sundays people watch at home. More TVs + more views

Tough place, it seems that arena is unbeatable for us.
I can't wait for the home opener, though.

Re: Game 1: @Portland
The team will be ready, Portland is decent but not a world beater. Hell I see them struggling mightily this season because outside of Nurk...who else is really a great rebounder or post defender on that team ? Despite all the hype about us playing with pace we have guys that can play the post and score from there. Yeah the Rose Garden has been a torture chamber for us, but that's about to change...plus it ain't like teams coming into Staples and getting easy wins anymore. Bottom line though the Blazers have no match up for Bron, that's what this game is all about.

Re: Game 1: @Portland
It was never the Lakers decision, the league never thought about prime time broadcast of Saturday games until 2 years ago. It was common back in the 80's for the Lakers to play on Saturday nights but back then they weren't national broadcast game.Tiesto_Lakers wrote:kblo247 wrote:Tiesto_Lakers wrote:What's even more weird is that our home opener is on a Saturday night.

Silver decided to make them national in the last 2 years. Now with the Lakers back it was only common sense, because the Lakers when good are a cash beast. Getting Bron put it on steroid status.

Yeah, which is going to make kicking their ass that much sweeter.
I cannot wait until we're the team, teams like the Blazers have no answer for again.
