Um, back to actual breaking news

The Shadow Rulers of the VA
How Marvel Entertainment chairman Ike Perlmutter and two other Mar-a-Lago cronies are secretly shaping the Trump administration’s veterans policies.

https://www.propublica.org/article/ike-perlmutter-bruce-moskowitz-marc-sherman-shadow-rulers-of-the-va

QUOTE:

The arrangement is without parallel in modern presidential history. The Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 provides a mechanism for agencies to consult panels of outside advisers, but such committees are subject to cost controls, public disclosure and government oversight. Other presidents have relied on unofficial “kitchen cabinets,” but never before have outside advisers been so specifically assigned to one agency. During the transition, Trump handed out advisory roles to several rich associates, but they’ve all since faded away. The Mar-a-Lago Crowd, however, has deepened its involvement in the VA.

QUOTE:

Over the course of 2017, there was growing tension within the Trump administration about how much the VA should rely on private medical care. During the campaign, Trump championed letting veterans see any doctor they choose, inside or outside the VA system. But Shulkin warned that such an approach was likely to result in poorer care at a higher cost. His preferred solution was integrating government-run VA care with a network of private providers.

In September 2017, the Mar-a-Lago Crowd weighed in on the side of expanding the use of the private sector. “We think that some of the VA hospitals are delivering some specialty healthcare when they shouldn’t and when referrals to private facilities or other VA centers would be a better option,” Perlmutter wrote in an email to Shulkin and other officials. “Our solution is to make use of academic medical centers and medical trade groups, both of whom have offered to send review teams to the VA hospitals to help this effort.”

In other words, they proposed inviting private health care executives to tell the VA which services they should outsource to private providers like themselves. It was precisely the kind of fox-in-the-henhouse scenario that the VA’s defenders had warned against for years. Shulkin delicately tried to hold off Perlmutter’s proposal, saying the VA was already developing an in-house method of comparing its services to the private sector.

QUOTE:

Wilkie, who was sworn in on July 30, now faces a choice between asserting his own authority over the VA or taking cues from the Mar-a-Lago Crowd. Wilkie reportedly wants to sideline O’Rourke and Sandoval and restock the agency leadership with his own people. But people familiar with the situation said the Mar-a-Lago Crowd’s allies are pushing back on Wilkie’s efforts to rein them in. As his predecessor learned the hard way, anyone who crosses the Mar-a-Lago Crowd does so at his own risk.

How is this garbage thread NOT LOCKED with sources like propublica.org? Clear bias when I just presented a thread with a sourced article about Clinton’s corruption and it was locked for no reason. I am going to file a complaint with RealGM about the bias, hypocritical moderators on this board.

Make the Knicks Board in RealGM great again and lock all political threads. Let’s talk basketball, how Kevin Knox will win ROY and why Joakim Noah looks like Aquaman. This board should be an escape to discuss the Knicks, not a political bash fest.

ProPublica Awards

https://www.propublica.org/awards/

We’re proud of the work we do, and honored to have it recognized by our peers. ProPublica and members of our staff have been honored for the quality of our work, the ethics of our journalists, and the innovative spirit of our newsroom. Since we began publishing in 2008, ProPublica has received four Pulitzer Prizes, three Peabody Awards, two Emmy Awards, five George Polk Awards, three Online Journalism Awards for General Excellence and a National Magazine Award among others.

AND

from ProPublica ABOUT PAGE

https://www.propublica.org/about/

ProPublica is an independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism with moral force. We dig deep into important issues, shining a light on abuses of power and betrayals of public trust — and we stick with those issues as long as it takes to hold power to account.

With a team of more than 75 dedicated journalists, ProPublica covers a range of topics including government and politics, business, criminal justice, the environment, education, health care, immigration, and technology. We focus on stories with the potential to spur real-world impact. Among other positive changes, our reporting has contributed to the passage of new laws; reversals of harmful policies and practices; and accountability for leaders at local, state and national levels.

Investigative journalism requires a great deal of time and resources, and many newsrooms can no longer afford to take on this kind of deep-dive reporting. As a nonprofit, ProPublica’s work is powered primarily through donations. The vast bulk of the money we spend goes directly into world-class, award-winning journalism. We are committed to uncovering the truth, no matter how long it takes or how much it costs, and we practice transparent financial reporting so donors know how their dollars are spent.

ProPublica was founded in 2007-2008 with the belief that investigative journalism is critical to our democracy. Our staff remains dedicated to carrying forward the important work of exposing corruption, informing the public about complex issues, and using the power of investigative journalism to spur reform.

Warlock mocked ProPublica as a garbage source of news.

Thus, I posted first ProPublica's own information and then provided the Alt Right counterpoint that mocks Pulitzer Prize winning journalism groups like ProPublica to frame the topic of "balanced reporting" fairly.

It was a straightforward way of demonstrating credibility.

It was an offering of point and counterpoint to illustrate why good sourcing is good sourcing based on the quality of the journalists or organization, not their political orientation.

Mother Jones can be fairly called liberal. The Economist is not particularly liberal. Both organizations are legit sources of journalism.

Anyway, it was a sober offering devoid of drama that was relevant. And I agree nothing more needs to be said at this time.

It's true. I read about J4Remi on QAnon.

Sucks when deep state operatives infiltrate NY Knicks basketball boards but these are evil times we are living in.

*edit* - I swear I'll source a link where QAnon obliquely reveals the J4Remi connection. I've been tracking the breadcrumbs for months.

I actually think "NYKWarlock" made a helpful contribution to this discussion by listing the vast litany of Clinton atrocities. However, he left out a few key things, including the gathering the Clintons had last year at the Bohemian Grove with the Bush family, Bob Mueller, Jim Comey, Rosie O'Donnel, LeBron, Robert Deniro, and the Washington Correspondents Association, where they worshiped Satan, made a few human sacrifices, dropped acid and rocked out to Green Day.

Did Warlock include "Pizzagate"?

I’m sorry but I agree with Bill...I mean Warlock on this(gagging).

How many Trump threads does there really need to be? We get it. He’s an ass. But then I see every Hillary thread get locked.

Like I said before, echo chamber. That’s doing nothing but starting nasty fights. I don’t post too much in these threads because the same **** is said over and over by the same people but this is getting ridiculous.

Trump has at least 2 years left in the Whitehouse. Is this really going to continue on like this as long as he’s President? That’s disheartening if so.

Trump is the President therefore his decisions, words and actions effect every citizens' life.... Hillary aint nothing so her decisions, words and actions don't effect everyone.

That's why Trump threads are relevant right now but Hillary ones are usually just petty, whiny men bitching about a woman that deserve to be locked.

More so the first sentence, but this is pretty much it

Also, cause this thread is sourced pretty comprehensively, even though people might not agree with his conclusions, Clyde does his homework. All the Hillary threads have no sourcing or are just Q conspiracies

If someone found actual, credible sourcing that showed Hillary had people assassinated, we'd let it stand
