I know there's an around the league thread, but this one will specifically to be to bitch about the Cubs pulling wins out of their asses, Wild Card scenarios, schedules, etc.

Cubs are down 2-0 early at home against the Nats.

Rizzo's 13 pitch AB with 2 outs in the 6th was killer for the Nats. Not looking good now at 2-2 with the Nats bullpen.

Hard to take the Nationals seriously as contenders when they're trotting out Greg Holland in a tie game in the 7th inning.

We should probably start focusing on the wild card game more.

Currently up 1 game over the Braves, Dodgers and Diamondbacks for the first spot. Cards, Rockies, Pirates, Nats all within striking distance.

And Ryan Madsen as the #2 (also closer).

Cubs with a grand slam walk off.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

And it was to the new shiny mediocre player/clutch hero (for a few games) that has a cool name that I want to punch fans in the face every time they gush over him (but probably wouldn't care or would like if I was not a rival fan).

Different positions, but this had the feel of a game 11 years ago, though that one was actually against the Brewers.

As someone who had never seen Brewers success in my lifetime I was probably getting a bit too excited early in the season to maybe see the playoffs, but this is when you knew the Cubs were going to win the division in 2007.

We won't catch the Cubs, it's all about wild card. We're tied with Philly, Cards are 1.5 back. Colorado and LA close behind.

Yeah, now 4.5 back and 6 games in the loss column. It’s over. It would take a 9-1 stretch from us and like a 3-7 stretch from the cubs to just be up by a few games. When was the last time the brewers closed a season on a hot streak? Seems like it’s never happened and we’ve so often ended the year in a skid most times we’ve been in contention. Also gonna need help in the wild card with all these off days. For all the excitement about how well we played early in the year, the multiple all stars, and the good roster moves made in the off season and deadline, but it seems like it’s setting up to be an all too “typical brewers” disappointing end of a season. This franchise just always seems snake bitten.

Cubs lost. Brewers 3.5 games out of the central.

Remaining SOS leans in the Brewers favor as far as the Wild Card hunt goes.
Inadequate perception I reckon it's from the Valium

I was just looking at the post-ASB schedule, obviously the last 2 weeks have been frustrating as all hell losing 3-4 brutal games late, etc.

We have gone 14-14 since the ASB against LAD, WAS (when they still had a pulse), @SF (4), @LAD (4), COL, SD, @ATL, @Cubs (2), @STL.

Long story short, even with some brutal losses in there, I think I'd have taken 14-14 if asked before that stretch. The biggest disappointment is the 5-game sweep, basically all close games @Pit right after blowing a game @Miami. If we go 3-3 there, we're still nicely ahead in the Wild Card and right there with the Cubs.

We obviously have to make hay against the **** schedule remaining, of course.

21 of 36 at home and six offdays (all Thursdays). There won't be any excuses if they blow it.

Cards sneak one out in LA...hopefully LA takes the next 2 games for the optimal finish between the 2 leaving them tied.

Of course the Cardinals get the Dodgers at the best possible time. They're winning the division aren't they?
