Every so often something jumps out at me while reading the General Board. Today I was scanning the "How Good Was John Stockton?" thread when some things occurred to me.

All time leader in assists:

1. John Stockton ... 15806
2. Jason Kidd ... 12091
9. Chris Paul ... 8708 ... the active leader in career assists

16. the gap between Stockton and Chris Paul ... 7098

(t)137. the gap between Stockton and Kidd ... 3715

All time leader in steals:

1. John Stockton ... 3265 ... which is more than x2 as many as DWade will retire with

2. Jason Kidd ... 2684
12. Chris Paul ... 2008 ... the active leader in career steals
16. Lebron James ... 1865 ... Lebron would have to play another 12 years without slowing down to catch John Stockton

Nobody playing today is catching this guy in either category. The year 2040 will roll around and he's still going to be the leader in both categories.
