I love the lip service remarks to "the great rank and file of the FBI". Basically, he says "The FBI is a complete and utter joke and it sucks but, er, the low level guys are great."

Really Donald? Where's the cut off? Where does the "bad leadership" end and "the great regular folks of the FBI" begin?

Basically, this is a longstanding post Vietnam War media play, where people (wrongly) criticized the soldiers for the war itself. So now, everyone is SUPER careful when laying blame not to discredit the "little guy".

Except with the FBI, he paints the organization as corrupt and incompetent, but tries that little media spin. It's hilarious.

Trump has crapped all over military personnel and members of the intelligence community and the bureau. I was watching a Vice News episode where someone was saying military and civil servants are in this for a career without much regard for party affiliation and they will outlast any president. Trump has alienated so many who put their lives on the line I doubt there will be too many tears shed for him when he's gone. The bad news for him is the members of the IC can and are doing something about it. He still uses unprotected cell phones because he won't use secured devices. The IC says thank you.

Worthwhile read for understanding factors that could lead to destabilizing Putin's regime and his eventual ouster.

He won’t be getting impeached.

My hope is enough people wake up because of this that he won’t get re-elected.

That’s gonna depend on who his comp is.
Many people simply won’t vote if they don’t like the candidates offered up.

That was a rant.

Like I said, go create your own rally speech thread, because if that is what you call reality then you're in the wrong thread.

We deal with facts here which is how we ground things in reality.

If you want to shout about your loyalties and try and anger others into a response that matches the level of hysteria you're showing you're in the wrong place.

Let's break this down and go one by one, for now.

If Trump is "interested" (whatever that means) in higher prosperity for "all Americans," then why did he sign into law a tax bill which makes the largest tax cuts for the top 1% permanent and the lesser tax cuts for the working and middle classes temporary?

I will add - and this is a FACT - that present day inflation caused by a rising deficit - is wiping out any temporary tax benefit the working and middle classes.

How do square that?

Trump is talking about another massive tax cut for the rich with a $100B capital gains tax cut. This is basically raping the tax base until the rich don't have to pay for anything by the time they're done exploiting their loopholes

actual impeachment would be easy enough to do under the rules, ethics and laws he's already violated

however the appetite for impeachment isnt there. Honestly in either party's majority.

the best case is castrating this president and leaving him and his administration ineffective to pursue any of their wack job plans for self enrichment and cronyism

sadly the republican party is based on self enrichment and cronyism so that won't happen either

so perhaps a major backlash in the '20 elections and a hold up of the supreme court pick

Right! So let's include that too, BRIGGS.

It's just so funny to me that ANYONE in their right mind could think that Trump actually cares about working class people. Where does that come from? Anyone who knows anything about Trump should know that, no. 1, Trump cases about himself first and always first. He's a crook who pals around with mobsters and oligarchs. But BRIGGS thinks he cares about "all Americans."

If Dems take back the House, then we can impeach. It's a complete game changer. If we then get it to the Senate, I think we can convict him with all the Dems and some moderate republicans ... or, what's left of them.

I can tell you why. The fantasy that Trump was like them was predicated on his coarseness and actual lack of interest in anything resembling real governance.

On the one hand there is this idea he is a straight shooter who tells it like it is because he's a foul-mouthed clod. It makes zero sense, but that's what passes for authenticity to some people I guess. When you consider how obvious it was from day one that he is a pathological liar you have to assume anyone who would take Trump on his word is willing to suspend any hold on reality and buy into whatever fiction is being peddled to them.

On the other hand, Trump has zero interest in actual knowledge, details, policy, detente and this appears to be a source of appeal to his supporters. They don't want to make the effort to actually wrestle with complicated trade deals or weapons negotiations. Like Trump, they just want to blow everything up and start from scratch regardless of the fact neither they nor Trump have any ability to build something from the ground up anyway when they are so disdainful of the efforts that preceded them or 75 years of post-war alliance building.

Trump as a president is a fictional character unmoored by facts or logic and that intellectual void is what people love to pour their fantasies into. He represents no one and his barely intelligible slogans only exist to titillate his support base.

With what is coming down the pike the GOP is going to be pulverized as much as Trump will be.

Sometimes I wonder if others can hold the big picture in place long enough to remember the salient points here.

Trump may be indicted as a sitting president and could be convicted of high crimes and misdemeanors.

The GOP leadership and many of its foot soldiers in Congress can be indicted or have to resign, because this scandal relates to many of them directly including McConnell and Ryan. This is why the GOP held its ground for Trump which is because a fair number of them are guilty too.

The Dems will be fairly close to even in the Senate after November and between now and then and going into 2019, the GOP and Trump will have been blasted by proof and a stream of indictments and convictions that will make it clear the GOP was a criminal organization.

Therefore, the idea that a swing vote of 12-15 Republicans who defect from their treasonous brethren to give the Senate a 2/3rds impeachment majority is not far-fetched at all.

Not every GOP member of the house and senate is in on this and some of them will come to the crossroads and get on the right side of history because Mueller will prove treason.

actual impeachment would be easy enough to do under the rules, ethics and laws he's already violated

however the appetite for impeachment isnt there.

If Dems take back the House, then we can impeach. It's a complete game changer. If we then get it to the Senate, I think we can convict him with all the Dems and some moderate republicans ... or, what's left of them.

impeachment isnt something even the democrats are eager to step into

they are focused on smaller steps

Where do you get that from though?
