Who will replace Bowen?
I’d be in favor of bringing back mike smith but if not him I’d talk to bill Walton to see if he wants to reunite with Lawler.
I don’t think Maclean can travel much because of his kids. Maggette would be ok. Maybe baron davis would be interested- i think he’d do a good job

Bowen's comments were objectively true and Kawhi is soft for being offended by them. Bruce shouldn't have been fired.

It's Not Just Kawhi, It's Doc Rivers - And The Anti-Clipper Fans
From CBS Sports:
Now we have a conspiracy. Was this a Doc Rivers request because Bowen smeared his name by digging up his past, or is this a Jerry West move in order to improve their chances at getting Kawhi Leonard. Even if there was a case for the latter, a lot of NBA fans on Twitter are calling this a bad move. Best to look away:
This really goes to show you that the sports world would rather see the Clippers cease to exist than let them be. This scene from X-Men: The Animated Series echoes my worry about the state of this franchise:
Clippers have a Manua Kea on their hands. Can't stay at the bottom lamenting the tall task at hand. Get out your hooks and pikes, and start climbing.
Bruce Bowen wrote:"One thing Gregg Popovich didn't do was screw it up with Tim Duncan. I remember when Tim was a free agent, he was thinking about going to Orlando when Doc was there. ... When Tim went out to meet with Orlando, he asked, 'can family come on the flights to some games?' From what I understand, Doc said no, and that's when he lost Tim Duncan"

Good Riddance to Bowen

I agree that Bowen has a right to his opinion, especially since it was arguably valid, but Bowen shouldn't have been brought back regardless. I know he's just starting out, but his color commentary was sorely lacking. Even his voice was grating to listen to when coupled with his contributions.
I'm not fond of firing someone for the wrong reasons, but getting rid of him was something I didn't think the organization had the common sense to do. The fact that it signals to Kawhi Leonard how much we want him is a bonus, though it does send the wrong message in terms of business conduct.

I actually like MacLean's analyses but his dry personality doesn't seem to provide a good partner for Ralph on the broadcast. I'm sure Maggette will be the popular choice among fans, but I've never really liked him, although he's better than Bowen. Hell no on Davis.
I'm not sure who out there is available, but I'd love to have Hubie Brown doing the telecast but he's with ABC and ESPN. Grant Hill would be a great get but I believe he's currently hosting NBA Inside Stuff. If we can get a vibrant former player who's played recently in either the NBA or WNBA, I'd be all for it.

Why are you so opposed to Davis? He is a smart and funny guy.

Would you prefer somebody from in-house? Not just somebody who's already on the Clipper staff, but someone with a connection to the Clippers, period. I would include former Clipper players and coaches in this, possibly even Clipper fans as a "safe pick". Trying to get somebody from outside the circle is good and all, maybe inject some relevancy, but what this firing tells us, beyond the Leonard and Doc shots, is they simply don't trust the outside world very well.

For all the crap Sterling got for heckling him, it was actually justified since Baron Davis came to the Clippers to collect paychecks as he ate himself out of shape to be an outrageously overpaid player whom we had to trade away along with what turned out to be a #1 overall pick that was used to select Kyrie Irving.
Elton Brand pitched him on the notion of making movies while out in LA before he bailed on us. Davis showed more concern in hobnobbing with movie moguls than winning games for the Clips during his time here.
Why not bring back Danny Ferry to be GM or something since he was a highly regarded front-office executive? Or how about Elton Brand while we're at it?
I'm not a fan of rewarding former players who betrayed or otherwise abandoned the team during their playing days, but I'm funny like that.

Yes, I'd actually prefer someone with ties to the Clippers or Braves but there doesn't seem to be any qualified or appealing options available. Norm Nixon came to mind but he's not really a vibrant personality.
Personally, I'm leaning towards getting a former WNBA player. Former Washington Mystic Stacey Dales has been killing it on the NFL Network and I'd love to see the dynamic of Ralph working alongside a knowledgeable and fresh-faced female personality.

I get that but it was a different time with an awful owner. Davis deserves some criticism but I kind of like him and it is good that he is a local guy.
I’d probably prefer that they bring back mike smith but I think that ship has sailed

Different owner or not, dude should have shown more pride during his time here. I'd rather have Cuttino Mobley since he qualifies as both an intelligent and vibrant personality while also being a consummate professional during his time here despite Sterling ownership.

Re: Who will replace Bowen?
It's all about Kawhi. He's a franchise-changer [probably, anyway] and probably the only one we have a shot at.
Bruce Bowen is not a franchise-changer. On the whole, except for making Ralph happier than he's been since Walton left, Bowen was a big meh. It was brilliant to dump him now instead of next summer, when it would have been just too obvious.
I would think the Clippers already have someone in mind, either that or they have fresh reason to believe Kawhi's looking our way.

Re: Who will replace Bowen?
We're not even sure if Kawhi will ever be the same again but we're engaging in these subtle moves to please and appease him for his age 29-32 seasons? LOL. Literally what fan/ sponsor was asking for Bowen to be fired because of these comments specifically?
Leave it to the Clippers to pull out all the stops for the best player in bask....err...the 2nd best player in bask....errr...the 3rd bes....
4th best player in basketball....maybe.....if healthy and not damaged goods????
Unbelievable how you can find yourself out of a job in 2018 as well.
Hopefully Bowen lands with Disney doing post game or pregame or NBA 2Nite type commentary. I thought he was fine doing that.

My guess is Kawhi and his uncle. This guy is Durant-level soft at this point.

All true, except Toronto will be paying for Kawhi's audition. There is no real risk or downside to this for the Clips. Bowen was not an asset, is not a loss.
