With all these rumors lately, it would be hilarious if Smackdown lost Bryan, Orton and Asuka in the next month.
What's the rumors on Asuka?
just that, rumors. Think they've been disproven already. Origin i believe was a 4chan thread
Don't get me wrong, she 'd have every right to leave given how bad her booking has been (then again, we could count on one hand who has been booked well on the main roster this year), but she isn't going to make money wrestling for Stardom, Sendai Girls, Ice Ribbon or TJPW or any other women's promotion.
That's the thing about woman's wrestling, for men, their are other options (ROH, impact, New Japan etc) but for women their is nothing really where you aren't getting a massive downgrade. So yeah, unless she's going back to Japan in some executive position for one of the Joshi companies and wrestling their or starting her own, she's pretty much guaranteed to stay.
She's walked out of companies before for less pay. She was one of the most headstrong women in all of Joshi. If she threatens a walkout, then she would likely follow through, given her history.
People think Asuka is like every other WWE wrestler and would come crawling back and eat their sh*t because of reasons like you said. She isn't. She had some of the biggest pair of balls in Japan when it came to not standing for backroom politics. Knowing her, she'd rather make $100,000 her way than $500,000 the safe way. So yes, she would take a massive downgrade in exposure for her own happiness.
And she wasn't exactly poor when she came to the WWE. She had enough money to run her own wrestling shows bi-annually for years. Keep in mind she also had her own graphic design studio, designed graphics for Nintendo games, wrote for video game publications, and had her own hair salon business.
It should be said that her social media has gone completely dark since last Tuesday. I mean every single account--Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Which has NEVER happened in her WWE tenure before for THIS long. She's one of the biggest retweeters of WWE content, fan art, fan pics, and she suddenly just stops posting ANYTHING all of a sudden. The rumors of her walking out are fake, but there probably might well be something going on backstage with her and WWE officials.
People keep saying her booking is gonna get better, gonna get better, gonna get better, later on. But she's not stupid, she sees how the WWE operates and what types of girls they like. She's close with Sasha, Bayley and Ember and she sees how they've been handled on the main roster. Her social media is constantly inundated with posts telling her her mic skills won't cut it, and she DOES read her online stuff. She even retweeted a cryptic message from someone a few weeks ago about how they loved her Japanese promos more because it made the WWE feel more international. And Asuka has NEVER publicly gone against the company before. While she's still probably the 2nd or 3rd biggest female star on Smackdown, they've been downplaying her gradually over the past few months. And she'll be 37 in a month. There's not a lot of time for her. My guess is she's crunched the odds and she thinks the chances of things getting worse rather than better in the next few months is greater than the reverse.
If she doesn't appear again or isn't added to the title match this Tuesday, I'm gonna guess she has asked for her release or the WWE will freeze her contract.
