Probably one of the border girls that were stolen from their parents and shipped across the country.

Monday morning QBing is easy but when you got your wife, kids and a life maybe you got enough reason not to play super hero with a crazy man if this indeed was the reality. If he'll put a woman in a coach bound up he'll probably have no issue cutting, shooting, or taking a bat to you and your wife to keep that under wraps. He obviously had some doubt as well, but did follow up with the cops. Probably handled it like the vast majority of people would have in the same situation.

I wasn't saying to fight the guy, although that would be an option if he has a human locked up. Not blaming him for not doing that, but calling 911 and trying to get a police officer on the scene/ on the tail of the car is the least someone could do.

Coward is pretty harsh and he must have called 911 to have police involved since the post said he hadn't heard back from the police yet. I would assume he did that as soon as the car left. That's not something you really sit on.

Lot of sick people out there, even if the guy didn't have someone in the car if Reddick confronted him with such and sinister allegation or tried to stop him from leaving that alone has the potiental to escalate into violence and violence between grown men always has the potential to end end death.

I would like to think I would intervene as well and demand to see under the blanket but it's very reasonable IMO to handle it like he did especially if your wife is there and you have kids. It wasn't as if he knew for certain there was a woman in there or that the outcome was for her was imminent death. If you see violence against a women in action and it's clear I think most people would intervene.

He said he hailed another cab FIRST(why?!) THEN called the car agency who didn't get what he was talking (scared to imagine how long that took) THEN called 911.

They then hailed a cab to take them the rest of the way.

Redick then said he called the car agency, who “acted like I didn’t know what I was talking about.” Then he contacted the police, who he has not yet heard back from, to file a report.

That is stupid and indefensible. Valuable time was wasted when a driver might worry he was caught kidnapping. Any adult should know to and should call 911 first and foremost in that situation. And there were two adults.

wow, it sounds like the cops didn't even follow up much on it. Pathetic response by them.

I hope someone is doing something about this! I get these flyers in the mail everyday with photos of missing kids. It could be someone's child that got abducted. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, DO SOMETHING!!!

NYPD was probably too busy shaking down black kids trying to pin a criminal record on them for having a dime sack to investigate.

In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

If I am in a vehicle and I think for a second that a human being is in the trunk/caged/covered or whatever. That person driving the car does not drive away.

I thought the same thing, why didn't she just scream? But human traffickers often drug their victims and threaten to kill them/their families- maybe that's why she couldn't cry for help? We'll probably never know

Let's just hope it was a dog or the other half of a freaky bondage couple that got off on the excitement of taking their sex hobby around a NBA celeb. If that was the eventual conclusion that wouldn't even shock me.

Could've been a prank a la Jackass where a bound, gagged, and bethonged Chris Pontius jumped out of the trunk of a car driven by Johnny Knoxville and started running around/screaming. If you saw that episode, half of the people who saw him were amused and half were scared sh less and thought it was real. Some people will second guess what the hell they just saw as a joke or prank and others who maybe watch LiveLeak.com vids and know how depraved the world really is, will act. Could've been a "Taken" like situation, could've been an abducted kid. Or remember that late 90s movie with Kurt Russell called "Breakdown" where some town rednecks abducted his wife and he eventually found her in a trunk. There was a psycho in Cleveland who had 4 women chained in his basement for 15 years and no one noticed until a random nutjob did and reported it. Forgot the abductor's name, but he hanged himself while in detainment. When they interviewed the dude who reported it, he said he was on his way to MACK Donald's (to DL Hughley's chagrin). He sounded like a complete weirdo himself. If that were JJ Redick in his shoes, he probably would've questioned what he saw as a possible prank instead of calling 911 and getting the license plate.

Edit: Ariel Castro was the Cleveland psycho. Wiki page w/ background on the case. Shows how something like that can happen.

I agree. That's one of those things where you either take action then and there or else its too late. You can't **** around and be like 'o gee sir, do you know that there's a woman in the back of your car?' because yes they do know and if you give them a chance they will drive off as quickly as possible.

Who knows. It's possible that he didn't know what to do. Or he was concerned that the driver might have a gun or something like that.

There is more chance of a response from the police and cooperation of the car agency with more exposure. What was the car service? If this is true they should be pressured.

There's got to be something - hopefully - missing if someone reports a possible human trafficking event and the police don't respond.

Redick's response was wrong and sadly realistic for most people. Kind of reminds me of the "obedience to authority" psychological experiments, people just want to go with the flow and believe something convenient. A kidnapped kid might miraculously get a chance to be seen by someone who has the chance to do something, but rather than the story book police rescue coming, it is more likely the observer can be easily dismissed and will ultimately do nothing.

Are you trying to say people concerned about a possible woman or child in a cage or box in the back of a car are white knights?
