what's the news on darvish? is it reasonable to expect him back at all this year?

It looks like he'll be back. It also seems to be a back issue and he was overcompensating with his arm which was causing the arm soreness. If they have identified the issue hopefully he can return to his normal pre-2017 self soon.

Lester has outperformed his FIP and xFIP so drastically this year that some regression was going to happen. He'll probably end up with an ERA around 3.75. The starting pitching hasn't been good this year.

Hamels with another strong start. It would be nice if the Cubs could get some separation with the Brewers. A 5 game division lead would be nice.

It looks like Darvish is about ready to return. As long as all goes well he should be back with the big club around the start of September after one more simulated game and a rehab stint, I'm assuming two games in the minors. I'm guessing they limit him his first 2-3 starts back and try to get him ready for 6+ innings for the playoffs. If Darvish comes back strong the rotation might peak just in time for the playoffs.

Cole Hamles with another great outing. David Bote with the walk off slam!!! The rookie has a story for life!

woot woot! Bote!

I had family over for dinner last night so I tossed the game on the DVR and watched it in bed, was getting really really tired about 1:30 am in the 8th but stuck it out by cheating a little and fast forwarded past washingtons's at bat's and watched us bat the 9th, boy oh boy was I rewarded for staying up well past my bedtime!!!!

I'm just going to call Hamels our ace. Lester, Hendricks and Quintana/Darvish just need to be a strong 2-4 in the playoffs.
