Wow, the host of the show blamed Acuna? Is there a YouTube clip of it?kg01 wrote:I just want to say, for the record, f*k the Marlins. F*k Kirt Gibson and F*k that pitcher, Urea.
And f*k the FS1 baseball show host that said Acuna was to blame because he put his elbow in the way. Really?

6 game suspension? That's bull. I can't remember seeing a more egregious beaning. There have been ugly ones but always in retaliation for something. This was just a punk move.

This article goes into a lot of details but one of the big points is that in the NBA supposedly half the teams are losing money every year but no one makes the case that player salaries should be lower in the NBA.

A mild brush with accounting has taught me that companies like NBA franchises should put losing money in quotes as that is more of a strategic thing than a 'oh crap we're losing money me might have-ta shut tha doors' thing.
It's why I hate when owners cry poor that way. They're as 'poor' as they wanna look.

Also the NBA is a cartel, any reported paper losses by individual teams doesn't account for the massive amount of revenue and equity that the league gains on a yearly basis. That and yes, owners will claim they took a $10 million dollar operating "loss" while concurrently seeing a 30% rise in franchise evaluation. That's 30% of a billion, folks.
And yea, I claimed ignorance over the WNBA's business structure but if FORBES doesn't know much either and is instead doing napkin math and making assumptions then either something insidious is going on or we really don't know enough to form an opinion on either side.

MSNLaVar Ball, sons tried to 'destroy' Lithuanian team, coach says
It didn't take long for LaVar Ball and his sons LiAngelo and LaMelo to wear out their welcome in Lithuania, sending their team on what was described as a "rollercoaster ride" that ended in controversy.
Seskus said the Ball brothers' talent was "nowhere near the level of the LKL (Lithuanian league), let alone the NBA."
Even more damning, "they had no inner drive to become better," he said.
As things deteriorated, Seskus said the Ball family "started destroying the club, not paying out prize money to the Big Baller Brand tournament winners, etc."
In addition, the team said Ball withdrew his financial support and took back shooting machines that were presented to the team as gifts.

Totally thought you were talking about someone else.

His schtick is a little much. It's bad karma to root for the death of an industry like that. It's not like he can afford to hire all the guys/gals who shake loose when papers die.
There will be a lot of good, hard-working folks out of jobs and he's beating his chest about it? Stay tuned, karma is coming for you.
