The ones I can do easily without checking are:

Russell
Heinsohn
Sanders
Fitch
Jones
Ford
Carr
Pitino
O'Brien
Rivers
Stevens

I thought of Cowens but wrongly rejected him.
I totally forgot about Rodgers and Carroll.

How about 7? Archibald. Anderson, Big Al (the original Big Al, that is), Gugliotta.

Seems like a zillion guys have worn that number.

Al Jefferson still hasn't made an All-Star game, even though he did make an All-NBA team.

Jermaine O'Neal also wore 7.

I can't find a fifth guy in the #4s either. (Lovelette, Paxon, Billups, Thomas)

Meanwhile, it seems there are only two numbers that were retired for the first and only Celtic to wear them. One is pretty easy to guess. The other I wouldn't have known if I hadn't been looking at the list of player numbers.

The easy one is 00. I have no clue what the other one is.......maybe 19?

For example:
#12 4 players - Willie Naulls (all-star Knicks), Sidney Wicks (all-star Blazers), Otis Birdsong (all-star Kings, Nets), Dominique Wilkins (all-star Hawks)

There is one uniform # with 5 players who were all-stars once...which # and which players?

Let's try for #20:

Gordon Hayward (he DID play for the Celtics already)
Ray Allen
Gary Payton
Scott Wedman

But I'm blanking on the 5th, since a little research shows Larry Siegfried never was an All-Star.

I love this one. Washed up former all star cameos are my favorite. I can't believe I missed Otis Birdsong. I would have been aware of him and excited at the time had I noticed. I may have been overseas.
Wasn't Wedman #8 in '96???

Mental matrix of former stars and potential numbers.

Prelim answer "Whatever number Derek Smith wore." 13? 7? 8? 20? 30? Don't remember at all. 34 was taken by Gamble at the time. Actually I'm pretty sure it was 43 and therefore not the answer.

5- KG, Walton
7 - Kenny Anderson?, Tiny, J O'Neal, not big Al; Jaylen Brown!
8 - Wedman, Walker, Jeff Green next year, not big Al
11 - Barros?
12 - as above
13 - Charles "Vehicular Homicide" Smith
20 - as above
26 - Cassell
27- Fortson
30 - Sheed, Marty Conlon, Blount,
31 - Maxwell, McDaniel
34 - McDaniel, Pierce, not Gamble or Carlisle
36 - Shaq, notSmarf
40 - Finley
43 - Derek Smith
44 - Maravich, Ainge
53 - Gilmore
88 - Antoine

Running through basketball reference 80s-2000 rosters memory lane, no spoilers since I still don't have the answer.

Still don't remember Googs on the Celtics.

11 is another good one, Kyrie and McAdoo and Barros
horrifying discovery - Mikki Moore had TWO tenures here
Bryant Stith played here??

David Wesley, John Bagley, Sherman Douglas, none ever made all star team. But #13 Rickey Green did. I would have been excited to know he was on the team if I had been informed.

So don't open the link.

You are close. Hint, fifth guy has fifth most points in Knicks history and after played 12 years in New York played last season in Boston and of course won a ring. He was a five time all-star and two time on second all-nba team
There's only one statistics that's important: who won...Bill Russell

Thanks. I confess that, prior to today, I know absolutely nothing about Carl Braun.

Oddly, my very first guess when I saw this question was #4, simply because it was the lowest number that could realistically be the answer, based on what I've noticed in my 4 decades of active Celtics fandom.

I'll answer that with one of the easiest trivia questions we've had for a long time:

Other than a player having his uniform number retired in the usual way, what variants on official retirements are memorialized alongside those (e.g. on the retired numbers banners)?

#2 wasn't retired for a player. Neither was #1. Neither was Johnny Most's microphone.

As of now, all other retirements are for players, although WHAT if anything was retired for Loscutoff is open for discussion. ;)

Ah, I thought it might have been a trick question, which is why I chose #2. Ok, well, since this is bothering me so much, I'm going to look up the answer. No worries, I won't spoil it for anyone.

EDIT: Just looked it up. WOW!! That's crazy!!!

True. But unfortunately there are two franchises with better win/loss percentages in the regular season, one of which also has a better game won/loss record in the playoffs.

Let's treat this as a clue! If it's crazy it must be a recent player. So let's look at recent retirements and eliminate them if they were used previously!

35 - I think Silas wore that?
34 - Gamble, Carlisle
33 - kuberski
32 - ? Don't think he wore other numbers
31 - McDaniel
3 - would be crazy but unlikely

I'll say #17. Maybe he wore another # at some point?
