Not to "rush" you or anything, but where is that 5-on-5 scrimmage you should be able to participate in by now?!

So I guess If he is going to be the Colts tight end then maybe I would be interested in Butler after all.

I gotta be honest.. I'm not loving how he looks.

That dunk video he looked really high dribbling the ball. That looked like he's going 65%. It's nice to see him taking a little contact while dunking, but he doesn't look very explosive.

Even if that new video. That little stutter step is like 6th grade pace. I like to see him not super wary of his ankle & moving his feet freely, but i'm not impressed by his quickness at all.

Edit *** This really shows the difference between like being healthy & being nba athlete level ready. If this was an average dude he'd be 100%. But he don't look ready for camp to me.

Hayward‘s All Star season shooting splits:
67% Restricted Area
46% In the Paint
38% Midrange
40% Three

I expect these to dip from the injury, but the team‘s spacing and general offense should mitigate some of that. Aside from midrange, those are incredible splits

He has had the better part of a year just to work on his shooting, but I'd imagine it'll take time to get his comfort and touch back going to the rim in traffic.

At least that was a couple of weeks ago and he still has another month before camp opens. But he looks all-around smaller than he was in camp a year ago. Without really fine-tuned total strength, he could slide back to the bench gang more often than he would probably like.

When he returns I would not start him, use him off the bench.

I'd still start him, but pull him (and Brown/Tatum) early in favor of Baynes and Smart/Morris. Ideally, you have either Horford or Hayward on the floor at all times as facilitators/offensive hubs. Let him run the 2nd unit w/ Rozier offball. Have another scorer (either Tatum or Brown) alongside them. Play him less than 30 mpg to start the season. Ramp up his minutes to what he can handle as season goes on. Getting him fully ready and productive come playoffs should be the goal.

But I can see him more of a spot-up shooter who attacks closeouts to begin the season. More of his offensive arsenal will be unleashed as his timing, conditioning, and comfort improve.

Bold prediction: he probably won’t have the best season of his career this year but will still be very useful for us. Hot hot hot takez!

It was just more than a broken leg as some people on here have stated. That was a horrific injury and the reality is no matter how hard he works he may never be the same player again. We will see how he looks in training camp but I would not be at all surprised if he isn't ready to play until January or February.

The dunk looked more like being deep into a drill to work on conditioning and movement. Was more focused on moving the correcr way as opposed to being explosive.

The second was just fooling around and counting his steps on a play.

George St. Pierre works out the same way. He doesnt explode in his practices and instead moves very slowly to train his body amd mind on a specific series of movements. Once those forms are perfected, then he moves on to something new. He explodes on those moves when the time comes to do so. Not in a practice. This methodology is being used by more and more athletes

Cant post the youtube directly but a little clip from Chael Sonnen talking about GSPs training. I expect this is what Hayward is doing

Chris Forsberg on The Jump said he spoke to Danny Ainge earlier today and he said that if training camp started today, both Kyrie and Hayward would be full ready to go 5/5, scrimmage, etc.

Well kind of hard to work on jumpshooting when you can't jump.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to practice set foot shooting but still.. live game action doesn't work that way and no matter what he has to wait till he's healthy enough to play 5 on 5 to incorporate any benefits from shooting into his game aside from dead ball situations of which only free throws are the options.
