#2 wasn't retired for a player. Neither was #1. Neither was Johnny Most's microphone.

As of now, all other retirements are for players, although WHAT if anything was retired for Loscutoff is open for discussion. ;)

Ah, I thought it might have been a trick question, which is why I chose #2. Ok, well, since this is bothering me so much, I'm going to look up the answer. No worries, I won't spoil it for anyone.

EDIT: Just looked it up. WOW!! That's crazy!!!

Let's treat this as a clue! If it's crazy it must be a recent player. So let's look at recent retirements and eliminate them if they were used previously!

35 - I think Silas wore that?
34 - Gamble, Carlisle
33 - kuberski
32 - ? Don't think he wore other numbers
31 - McDaniel
3 - would be crazy but unlikely

I'll say #17. Maybe he wore another # at some point?

Its not Hondo. That player in addition to retired # briefly wore #27

Well done!

Even after looking him up, I have no memory of the guy.

On the 1985-6 Celtics, Kevin McHale was #1 in FG% and TS%. Who was #2?

Indeed. I remember him as excelling when paired with Walton to the eye test, and the numbers back it up.

Now I'm actually remembering him a little.

Anyhow, I'm bumping this thread to note that fact that Danny Ainge held a Toronto Blue Jays franchise record for four decades -- youngest player to hit a home run.

So anyway -- there are two obvious cases of Celtics playing in the major/top leagues for another major team sport and another recently in the news for having done so in training camp and preseason.

Are those the only examples?

Since 2003, there have been SIX Celtics players who notched multiple 30-point, 5-assist games in a single season. Name all six. Who had the most such games in a single season?

Gah, I'll take a stab in the dark here:

Paul Pierce
Antoine Walker
Ray Allen
Kyrie Irving
Isaiah Thomas
Kevin Garnett

I'll go with IT for most such games in a single season.

*On the fence list:
Rajon Rondo due to points
Ricky Davis due to insanity

Nailed the bonus question.

Got five correct if we added your fence list. Your three wrong guesses are pretty good ones though.

Well the 3 I'm most confident in are IT, Kyrie and Pierce. I'll add Rondo to that list and Hayward who is not on here at all but I think may have gotten to 30/5 this season more than once.

That leaves one of Walker, Ray Allen, Garnett and Ricky Davis to be the 6th person if I correctly understand your reply. I think Antoine was probably too old by 2003 to get there so I'll scratch him. I think KG was more in the Horford role and didn't dominate offensively enough to get there so I'll scratch him. That means Ray Allen or Ricky Davis. I really don't know... I'll guess Ray in the event that Rondo missed a few games and he accidentally passed it enough to get his numbers.

So my guess is:

IT, Kyrie, Pierce, Rondo, Hayward and Ray Allen

The first five are right. It was Davis. Well done!
Surprised about Ray. Apparently he didn't have as many 30-pt games as I thought. Only 12 times during the regular season in his entire stint with the Cs. Only twice did he have at least five assists to go along with the 30+ pts (2008, 2011).

I guess according to the rules I'm supposed to ask the next question. Name the starting 5 that went to the ECF in 2002.

Bonus question #1: Who were the 3 rookies we drafted that year (and in what order)?
Bonus question #2: We traded one of those 3 rookies during his rookie season. What did we trade him for?
