I went to college with this guy. (Shout outs to my fellow Rattlers.)

He was a year ahead of me in school. Even back then, he was as slick and as polished as they come.

So, do you basically just have write off a good 30-40% of the countries voting public as abject morons?

"Mr. Stevenson, every intelligent American is voting for you." 1950s presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson, "But I need a majority."

"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public,"
Fred Silverman, ABC television executive.

One thing that is interesting to me... Trump seems to be on the wrong end of cancelling pay increases for Federal workers - IMO. But at the same time, the Federal pension problems have never been addressed (nor state and local government pension problems).

As you raise wages it just exacerbates the long-term problem with the system. It is estimated that there is a billion-dollar unfunded liability inside the federal employee pension system. The system is not transparent and needs to become so...

And I also think that the Federal government needs to look at productivity per worker. Under the current system, that can't happen.

So, although I do feel that we need to compensate our federal workers, it is difficult to support pay raises when it contributes to 1) unfunded liabilities and aren't tied to increased productivity.

My two cents.

Any present or future savings the move brings is just window dressing for the president, who made that move to rile up supporters and troll opponents, relying on the omnidirectional cognitive dissonance and childlike absurdity of his overall message to keep the cancelled pay raises disconnected from the massive tax cuts has has given and will continue to give filthy rich people while doing little or nothing to help his rank and file supporters or anyone else, His next move, figure out a way to keep his own wealth--which will likely increase tenfold while he is in office (hmmm)--in the family name after his death. It will be like he never died.

Issue one - Trump and the window dressing. Agreed, his motives are strictly political. He is trying to tie the deficit to federal workers pay - and that isn't the problem.

Issue two and related only because it comes up with every administration - and none of them ever deal with it - unfunded pension liabilities.

Too me - Issue one has no bearing, Trump is transient and the long-term affect of his freeze will do little in terms of overall compensation. Issue two is the elephant in the room that neither party wishes to address and it is growing to past a trillion dollars.

I believe the Trump tax plan will be transient as well. Look for the tax rates to change soon after he is out of office along with the death tax.

Awkward or not, it was the social funeral event of the season, and she didn't get an invite to the all star Aretha Franklin funeral, or even to Robin Leach's funeral. Pretty soon she would get a reputation if she didn't show out at one of these funerals. She just had to be there.

Yes

And then we have all those that still vote for local politicians that put us in a deep hole with the unfunded liabilities.

And those of us (myself included) who voted for an administration that had a huge wasted stimulus.

And...

And...

And...

Hmmm, gets us close to 95%? Well, of those who voted.

And then we have the huge chunk that didn't vote at all. Where do put them?
