Heyman: Blue Jays and John Gibbons ready to part ways after season

Post#1 » by polo007 » Thu Sep 6, 2018 4:06 pm

Read on Twitter

The Jays and John Gibbons are said ready to part ways after the season, sources told Fancred.

While nothing’s set in stone, one person familiar with the thinking of both parties, said it was “99.9 percent done” that the Jays would hire a new manager next season. Gibbons and GM Ross Atkins are said to have spoken multiple times about the plans, so sources say this would not come as a surprise to Gibbons.

“We’ll sit down after the year and see what direction we’re going to go, myself included,” Gibbons said by phone.

Atkins declined to comment.

People close to the situation suggest the plan is to hire a younger manager with a likely target date to compete in 2020 or 2021, and word is that Gibbons fully understands and believes he’s been treated very well by the new regime, which gave him an extension before the 2017 season. Gibbons is owed one more year, and will be paid, as is required.

I am one glad and ready to move on. I hope the Jays do there research and find the right Manager for the future of the Blue Jays. Not just bring in a friend of a friend if you get my drift.

Sportsnet personalities have been talking smack about him for a few months now so you know his time is up.

We already know they're gonna hire Eric Wedge and put zero effort into finding the best candidate possible

Vegas is posting even odds for Wedge getting the job. Same people that predicted Raps would get Kawhi.

I think most of us thought wedge would be the manager as soon as they brought him in as a scout or whatever role they made up for him.

I hope they look outside for a young up and coming manager.

lol managers cannot win you games. they did this cause gibby is not THEIR manager shatkins inherited him.

they'll lie to the fans like they always do and claim the move was made because he's not analytically inclined lol.

the sabrametricians and front office make all the calls managers are puppets.

The announcement of Gibby's departure will be made today, though he will manage through this weekend's final season series.

I think it is going to be Wedge too but Vegas isnt always right. Their odds had Khalil Mack going to Green Bay if i remember correctly before he went to Chicago.
