Crew at Scrubs Series

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Sep 10, 2018 1:20 pm

Since Chicago has to fly to wash for a one day makeup game there is talk they might move Wednesday's game to the afternoon but so far it's still a night game.

Monday - 7:05 - Miley vs. Lester

Tuesday - 7:05 - Chacin vs. Quintana

Wednesday - 7:05 - Anderson vs. Kendricks
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Not too crazy about these pitching matchups, although looking at the Brewers starters generally you have to wonder how this team got to 20 over, so maybe CC's formula of four or five starter innings and some bullpen magic will work again.

Take two of three and I like our chances to win the division from a game back. Seems like the big Cubs machine is starting to sputter a little.

Tough matchups right there. I was gonna say they have to sweep but 2 out of 3 would be an absolute godsend.

I'd imagine the Brewers' starters for this series have a better collective ERA and it's probably close or a wash on FIP/xFIP. Some of those pitchers happen to pitch well against the Brewers a lot but their name brands are fading.

The wind looks to be blowing slightly in tonight, which is huge for Lester, who is running a highwire act these days at teetering on being complete garbage while still delivering competent results most nights.

Right...I think it's been pretty clear all year that Stearns and Counsell are a bit ahead of the curve. At some point, people are going to have to stop asking why Travis Shaw is being moved to 2B and why they somewhat devalue starting pitching and just embrace that they're generally going to win more games than the roster projects.

They're making do with a bunch of imperfect pieces and probably will not have enough in the end, but at the very least we have a GM that is able take a 75 win team and win 80-85 or an 80-85 win team and get to 90 wins.

 I'll take those match-ups. Not sure what else you can expect. Looking at the match-ups alone does not lead me to think that any are an 'auto-loss', even on the road. Anderson/Kendricks is the one I like least.

Let's take 2 of 3. We can do this.

Cubs just saw Miley and Chacin. It will be interesting, especially with Miley.

I really want this series. Winning this series at Wrigley would be sweet deflation for them.

I've been a Cubs hater almost my whole life. In fact, I can only think of three Cubs I don't entirely dislike.

Hoping for many Boo Boos by the current Cubs this week.

Cole Hamels has the second highest WAR among Cubs starting pitchers and he's only been on the team for like 5 weeks.

The reason so many Cubs fans come to Miller Park, Cole Hamels, is because they don't want to go to a stadium where they'll get crushed by falling ceiling tiles. Sweep 'em.

If we sweep, I'm singing this old ditty. Is it really nine years since Mike Cameron was swinging at air? How time flies.

A Brewers series win or sweep would make the last couple of weeks extremely fun so I'm pretty sure the Cubs will own us this week.
