2018 New Orleans Saints Thread

Post#1 » by Mags FTW » Sat Jul 28, 2018 9:40 pm

Figured we should put this up to track the pick.

Some bad news out of the gate as the Panthers may have lost their RT for awhile with a knee injury.

Saints don’t play them until W15 and W17, so if it’s not a season-ender he should be back to play them.

Doubt they will make a difference, but the Saints just added Michael Floyd, Brandon Tate, and Don Barclay.

Floyd couldn’t do anything on a Viking team whose receivers are garbage after Diggs and Thielen.

What the hell, if the Saints D is this bad and Brees gets a hangnail this might be a top 5 pick

Kamara (and Thomas) going off for mega fantasy points and the Saints still losing is a recipe I can get used to very quickly.

Saints defense is brutal. Last year was an aboration. They had guys playing way over their heads and rookies playing well.

I have Brees, Kamara, and Tyreek Hill.

My team scored 189 points. (10-Team .5 PPR League)

I have all 3 in a league also. I also have Bell ( keeper). If/when he comes back I am golden.

Wish I was in a keeper league. I had a feeling about Kamara and drafted him in the 14th round last year.

So there's no protections on the pick right? It's straight up. If they go 0-16 we get the #1 pick and if they win the superbowl we get the #32 pick and whatever in between right?

I may be wrong but I don't think the NFL has pick protections when it comes to trades. If they do I can't ever recall a trade with protection on a pick. Just conditional picks where the round is based on performance.

That's what I thought too, but I've been hanging around this site so long it's starting to blur my football knowledge.

From everything that was reported its the 2019 saints pick... so no protections. Saints D looks brutal. might be a 8-8 season for them.

I had Big Ben (I'm a QB streamer) and saw the weather concerns. Streamed Fitzpatrick.

While I won't admit to thinking that Fitzpatrick would carve up that defense, I figured they'd be behind and playing catch up on the fast track, of course.

But I still was not sold on the Saints' defense (at home). It's like Coors Field in baseball. Even with a good pitching staff like they currently have, I'll believe that the runs/points/touchdowns will be suppressed there if I see it like 3 seasons in a row.

Like has been stated with the pick you can only really put conditions on a pick based performance, games played, team record, etc etc etc. Sometimes those conditions include only conveying in a pick swap scenario based on which team is drafting higher also

It's not really relevant as theres no conditions on the pick and honestly I dont think I ever remember a conditional 1st round pick in a trade
