I’d keep him in the middle. Move Foster on the outside. Flip flop them occasionally on any given downs to keep QBs off balance.

Dislocated toe for Garnett. That's good news, I think. Maybe misses a week. And explains the reaction. I've never dislocated anything, but I've heard it can be very painful if it gets jarred when it's out.

i'll give Shanahan and company this. THIS was beautiful.

Recommend watching Thorn's entire thread. Not just that one.

Few wrap-up thoughts: Marsh played a good game and flashed several times for SF. Tartt too. 49ers have a major issue at RG and consequently RT if McGlinchey has to slide inside long-term, a position he never played prior to last weekend. Elflein's return will do wonders for MIN.

Nice note on Tartt, too. Thought he didn't get enough credit from what I've been around so far this week because of some of the mistakes.

That'll be a fun match-up. Ragnow has a chance to be a dude in time IMO. Allowed 1 whole pressure last year. His performance against Texas A&M was a thing of beauty. I like him as a possible center down the road. Detroit would have to give up on the Graham Glasgow experiment first for that.

Never would wish an injury on another human under any circumstances. I hope he continues to be able to do all things with his family and friends and has a great, great life.

With that said, I'm selfishly hoping Coyle isn't designated as a return guy for later in the year. It's time for that experiment to end with the 49ers. It likely won't assuming he can get clearance again because they just signed him to an extension and he'll have two more years left on it after this year but if it's me you cut your losses and upgrade.

I don't doubt they liked/loved him as a teammate, as a locker room guy, and for communication purposes. I understand that's probably a part of the package with him and it probably doesn't get enough talk in the media and with fans but if it's me I'm replacing him as soon as I can.

As far as Toran goes, that could get ugly in a hurry, which I guess could be somewhat of a positive if it leads to his replacement on the roster sooner than later as well. He's one of many that's a part of the problem for me with the offensive line. (See previous rants of mine on the OL - I don't like most of it). It's just unfortunate who else might get caught up in the collateral damage if he's forced to play. That part of it is scary.

They could have signed a name I'd like far better than Terence Garvin but you could do a lot worse than Garvin. If this ends the Erik Walden possibility for now it'll be a minor success. If Kikaha were deemed healthy enough to get a contract and it were an either/or situation between Kikaha and Garvin, I'd probably try and see what I could squeeze out of Kikaha. If it was a one or the other deal.

Frank Stephens has some Trent Taylor/Aldrick Robinson/Taylor Gabriel to him. Better and bigger catch radius than Taylor but similar in small spaces with his movement skills. Not quite the make-you-miss stuff that Gabriel has but similar. Probably better make-you-miss ability than Taylor has. Goes up and gets it like Aldrick Robinson could. Doesn't shock me if he passed the Shanahan eye test.

Shanahan just revealed Coyle also has a broken bone in his back (T4 compression fracture) in addition to the concussion issue. "At least" 6 weeks before he can have contact again.

Goodwin out. Garnett out. Person most likely out. 3rd string RG (undrafted rookie), 1st string, 2nd string, and 3rd string (??) LB out, FS questionable

Return to San Francisco 49ers
