The awesome Diaw to Marion alley-oop.

And getting INSANELY annoyed at him passing up open dunks/layups for the kickout...ARGH!!

Such a gifted, smart player though. He murdered the Mavs that postseason too...

I posted this story in the history thread a few days ago because I thought it was so hilarious. But it wasn't something I remember hearing about at the time at all. I'm surprised if it was so memorable that I don't remember hearing about it.

As DirtyDez said earlier he saved our 06 season. He's humble,skillful and has a high basketball IQ. He's someone who could play 4 position on the court and it was always a joy seeing him play although he sometimes pass the ball too much but still you were one of my favorite players to watch

They ran that play so many times...such a basic play, you just don't see it run between two 6'7"-6'8" wings that much.

Josh Jackson should watch tape of Marion and try and emulate him. We need that defensive glue guy on the wing...

I remember there was also a crazy 3/4 court alley from Diaw to Marion.

I saw video of it yesterday but somehow for the life of me I can't seem to find the clip.

I always remembered him to be one of the first of the modern day point forwards along with Lebron. Something we haven't seen since Magic and Pippen. He was able to do it all, score, pass (almost 3:1 A:T ratio!), defend (1-5) and rebound. Of course there were plenty of frustrating moments where he would be right underneath the basket and would kick it out instead but I remember when we played him at the 4/5 next to Amare it we were just difficult to guard because he was so damn versatile. On offense, he was too strong, too fast and too skilled for a lot of bigs to guard.

He really was one of my favorite and I believe one of the most underappreciated players during the SSOL era.

That's the one. Incomprehensibly awesome play.

Diaw was so frustrating, but when he was on and contributing, he was one of the most beautiful players I ever watched.

Couple things....I picked up Boris Diaw on my fantasy team the year Amare went down in the first week of the season and I rode Boris to the finals in my league. 16-7-7 if I remember correctly was his seasonal line and him dunking on Nowitzki in the WCF was a thing of beauty. It was like seeing the collective frustrations of millions and millions of French people being released. The guy could've played harder, sure, on a more consistent basis, but he was fun to watch when his game was flowing.

Boris could have been so much better than he was had he really committed to his craft and his health, and if he played with more of a chip on his shoulder. Marvelous in the '06 season - made most of us forget all about JJ for a year. Sadly, he had a hard time coexisting with Amare on the front line. Really frustrating to watch him decline after that crazy breakout season in 05-06.

In hindsight we probably could have traded Amare in 07 or 08 (perhaps for another star who could shore up our interior defense) after Boris Diaw's emergence in 06, as sacrilegious as it seems to say. Maybe a little dicey given his dedication, or lack thereof, to the game, but he was very good - his stats with Charlotte in 09 after we traded him were insane.

I really liked Boris Diaw's game. I always felt he was one of the best post players during his time with us. He had such an arsenal of moves, and I feel he could have easily averaged over 20 points a game but he passed too much and just wasn't as aggressive as he could have been.
