Capela Re-Signs with Houston for 5 Years
The Clint Capela five-year $90M contract now pushes the Rockets team payroll to $136M, 4th highest in the NBA behind Oklahoma City, Golden State and Toronto. The Rockets now have a projected luxury tax bill of $21.4M with 11 players on guaranteed contracts and 2 partial/non-guaranteed (Michael Carter-Williams and Zhou Qi). Signing a player to the $1.5M veteran minimum would cost an additional $3.8M towards the luxury tax. Houston still has $4.5M remaining of the tax midlevel.

Re: Around the NBA II
Houston guaranteed him $80M, $16M/year and another $2M per year is based on incentives.
Why didn't the Clippers ever tag on a FT% incentive to DJ's contract? Not the he didn't work at it, and he did finally get better, but it might have been a nice motivation.
Capela has these incentives:
500k for 65%+ FT
500k for 30%+ DREB%
1M for WCF
The way NBA incentives work is that if you accomplished them the previous season they are considered likely and they are added to the teams salary, so $1.5M is added to the Rockets salary for DREB% and WCF.

Obviously injury and roster talent were the primary factors in lack of success, but CP and Blake having a relationship like this, and similarly what we've seen with Paul and Harden would have been nice.

Blake's relationships history is not good
what a mess he's turned out to be
a pity, really
not really a bad guy, I suppose, but breaking his hand on a friend's head, his org shipping him off from beautiful LA to the Siberia Pistons

Griffin and Cameron cleared that up on Friday, releasing a joint statement disputing that report.
“The recent reports of the financial details of the child support agreement between Blake Griffin and Brynn Cameron are inaccurate,” the statement said, according to the Detroit Free Press. “Both sides have settled amicably and are moving forward with co-parenting their two children. Due to the confidential nature of the agreement, no further details will be released.”
Details of that agreement were not made public. According to a TMZ report, though, Griffin is paying Cameron $32,000 per month.

Sorry for passing on Fake News. Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News were among my sources. WTF.

I don't want to get too specific in bagging on Blake, but he did have not one but two children with his baby mama and caused her great public embarrassment by going Kardashian, booting her out of his house, and forcing her to take him to court. My opinion of Blake's [lack of] success with relationships stands.

The Houston Rockets have waived R.J. Hunter.
Hunter was on a two-way contract, appearing in five NBA games last season.
Hunter also played for the Rockets in Summer League.
The Boston Celtics selected hunter in 2015 but he was waived before the start of his second NBA season.

Re: Around the NBA II
Where would Jimmy go where he would play with someone as talented as KAT?
This is probably his one big payday, since he's near 30.
Unless he wants to go in ring chaser mode, the teams willing to give him a big contract are probably not contenders or not likely to be as competitive as the Wolves. Chances are most top 4 seed playoffs teams have high payrolls already.

The Raptors and Clippers are being speculated by blog writers as possible landing spots for Butler in connection to competing with and securing Kawhi long-term. I've posted such tweets in the current Trade Discussion thread.

I don't know if the Raptors even have cap space, even if Kawhi left.

Yeah, I forgot that they have Ibaka's albatross contract on the books. Maybe the hope is for Minnesota to be interested in acquiring Ibaka+ for Butler to alleviate that burden rather than lose him for nothing after the upcoming season. Still, the Clippers should be able to beat that offer with a package built around Gallinari. I want to be clear that I'm not necessarily advocating that the Clippers pursue such a course of action but it is an interesting proposition to ponder.
