I genuinely don't see any upside to trading for Butler at all. Hopefully our front office is smart enough to not get involved.

Because players and their agents see the long game and analyze these moves from every angle....not simple things like "oh this team didn't make the playoffs"

None of the things I’m reading that I assume are supposed to interest our fans make me want anything to do with a Butler trade. Butler wants to play for the Clippers because he “LOVES Los Angeles and spends a lot of time there”? Hey, how about mentioning the team and the changes in the front office and how you feel about recent player acquisitions? Sounding like an excited kid talking about going to Disneyland isn’t a good way to explain why you want to play professional basketball for a specific franchise and have them commit hundreds of millions of dollars to you.

I’d be okay with trading Lou, Bev, Milos, and a second for Butler … if he’s willing to sign a 4 or 5 year extension for around $20 million a year. That’s what he’s worth—it’s a lot of money, and Butler’s a good player. But I really really doubt Butler would be willing to do that. He thinks someone is going to offer him (a lot) more as a UFA at the end of the year. I have questions about that—but I don’t think Butler or (probably more importantly) his agent does.

It's pretty telling that a player who's supposedly focused on basketball and winning can't seem to come up with any reasons that relate to basketball or winning. Especially when he's leaving yet another team under a cloud of off-court drama.

when initially heard, I thought this was a no brainer but I also was at work and did not read further than the headline.

came home and caught up in details and yes, the numbers seem horrendous but I still wanted Jimmy on my roster and thought Ballmer is not going to let some extra $ come between his goal of winning.

Then thought about what the Wolves and Thibs would want in return, and then I said, **** it.

reason A) the salary match is Gallo. he will miss games, we all know that and he is not really needed for them. Between Wiggins and Towns SF/PF/C could use a player like Gallo IF he wasn't such injury prone. they have other players such as Gibson, Tolliver and Dieng. the learning curve of new system and Thib wants D. Pass.

reason B) what we can offer them in terms of their needs could have a match, but... since we just resigned Avery I don't believe he can be traded. Beverly+Avery would entice Thibs for sure, but it won't come as a package. Beverly+Milos seems awkward and unnecessary when they have Jeff Teague and D Rose on their roster. Lou I can see but don't they also have our old friend Jamal or is he really gone? without Jamal, yeah Thibs could use Lou. but I can't imagine Lou+Beverly being only 13 million in salary, Wolves need to gauge 7 more mil of salary from our roster to theirs to make this happen. I can't find a match from their perspective.

reason C) the Nets and their payroll. they can whip out 1 year deals of quality players with salaries such that they can mix and match and come up with infinite (hyperbole) number of combinations to satisfy the actual person in charge for the trade, Thibs.

we shall see.

to defend my view, it is w the assumption that with Jimmy, he will bring in his fellow team USA mate Kawhi Leonard next season while retaining services of one particular pair of Bobi and Tobi. don't we have their birds? I mean, Bobi won't cost much but for Tobi, no bird rights on us? big Steve can pay the bill. he was worth 13 billion when he bought the Clippers, and now he is worth 44 Billion or something of that sort.

now imagine our lineup of

Shay - JImmy - Kawhi - Tobi - Trezz/Gortat or whomever plays C for us.

the scarier thing is, I think in 3 years, Shay will be the best player of this particular hypothetical roster.

Yep this is his 2nd team that he would be leaving on a bad note and he's only played for two teams in his career.

It's a blunt attack on his teammates, but probably deserved considering the Wolves' lifeless performance in a blowout loss at home to Ricky Rubio and the Utah Jazz on Sunday.

"Everybody is playing for the fight of their life, we gotta realize that," he continued. "As a whole, we gotta go out there and be the tougher team every single night, every single possession."

So who's to blame for the lack of effort? According to Butler, it's not head coach Tom Thibodeau.

"We gotta have that will to want to guard. We haven't done that all year," he said. "We've had stretches where it's looked solid, and then we go back to what you've been seeing. All in all, we just gotta want to play defense. Thibs, he don't got too much to do with that."

KAT is a dog. So is Wiggins. Maybe Butler's bad rap will undercut his trade value. Ask Lee Jenkins if it's a bad rap. That's what he's getting the big Ballmer Bucks for.

That said, I don't really want to build around a 30-yr-old. I just hate to see people get unjustly accused. Butler isn't dogging his team's talent, only its desire and professionalism. Most bad teams can trace their suckage to that.
