Didn't watch this but anything notable? How did EB come across?

I'm not going to try to analyze, just going to root for him to do a great job.

This whole hiring process was dumb as **** and I'm sure Josh Harris has no idea what he's doing, but I'm very excited to root for Brand to be good at this. I like him.

Making notes as I listen to the press conference.

- Elton is already not taking any of Eskin's ****.
- Elton was offered an assistant GM job four years ago and has been preparing for this job since then.
- Markelle is in the gym all the time, according to Brand.
- Harris says the common thread running through all his GM hire is "integrity." Ok, Josh.
- Brand has a producer credit on a Werner Herzog film?

Yeah man, Rescue Dawn. It wasn't half bad from what I remember.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Executives don't lure players to teams, organizations and cities do. Lebron didn't go to LA because of Magic Johnson like the media driven propaganda would like you to believe. He went because LA opens the doors for him to pursue other ventures, he lives in LA, his family loves it there, it's a historic franchise.

Lebron sure as heck went to LA MOSTLY because of Magic. Magic is an amazing business man. Who can open multiple doors for Lebron, a lot easier than he could do on his own. Going to LA was only partially about basketball. Learning from Magic was a major major plus.

Don’t agree. I think he went to LA because it is LA more than anything else. Agree that Magic is a great business man, but I think Lebron would have gone there if Kupchek or West was the GM.

I don't understand Josh Harris. When you're this uncomfortable sitting in front of a bunch of cameras, just let someone else do it.

Lacking the personality to look good at a press conference is one thing, but the substance of his answers are just pure ****. What is Elton Brand's vision that made him the prime candidate? He comes off as if Elton Brand is chosen because he's well-liked among the employees and it's a players-league nowadays, so why not let a player become the GM, right?!

Oh, wait. Integrity! let's not forget to mention integrity, whatever that means.

Because we seem like a darkhorse for JB, I think we’ll get him lol. There’s no way BB is fully content with this roster heading into the season after all the talk this summer.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Inho we're not interested in JB. I think we're targeting someone not rumored, younger than JB and with 2 years left on his contract.
A scoring wing. Don't know who, but this should be his profile.

Bradley Beal was my 1st thought in reference to EB’s comment.

There's a nice bit on the Brand hiring in today's Boston Globe:

By naming former No. 1 overall pick Elton Brand their GM, the 76ers offered hope for ex-players to gain front office positions without waiting a long time. Brand retired after the 2016 season, in which he served as more of a player-assistant coach with the 76ers, before becoming GM of the team’s G-League affiliate. There has been a perception among former players that they have been edged out of front office opportunities by candidates with more analytical backgrounds. The fact that Brand was given a GM position before his 40th birthday is a testament to his talent and potential. Brand’s basketball acumen is high and he gets a chance to run a team that could be challenging in the Eastern Conference for years.

There's a little more on the subject, including a mention of Colangelo and a sentence on Zarren, but that's most of it. The bulk of the piece is about Butler, the new Lakers, and the Mavs scandal.

The amount of meddling this mid-level owner is doing, is shocking! Are you saying we trading Mikhail Bridges because he wanted it (says Brown begrudgingly signed off on the trade). Ugghghgh, sell the damn team already. At some point we're going to make the wrong move because of these douchebags, and will have squandered the best chance this team has had in 15 years at a championship.

Unbelievable.
