Bulls fan in peace, I have been watching the Jimmy Butler drama unfold and now Houston has been mentioned as a possible suitor. Would you guys give up Capela as a possible asset to match salaries if the Twolves match up with you?

I cannot imagine that Houston would entertain the possibility of giving up Capela for Butler. It just does not make sense for Houston this season or moving forward.

Not to mention the obvious consequence of trading Capela:

I would have to go full Professor Chaos.

I don't think that anyone wants that.

My guess is that it would have to involve Gordon, Tucker and future assets, which we don’t really have. I like Butler and I think he’d be a great fit, but we do give up a lot of outside shooting and would deviate away from our chuck-a-thon philosophy.

Butler wants a big long-term deal, so he may not be down for a rental situation.

Of course Wolves want the best return possible so that may not be from a team with max cap space next year.

Wiretap article makes it sound like Fertitta wants to avoid the repeater luxury tax.

our best future assets are Knight and Chriss
can't be traded until end of next month
CF has info that our trade start with Gordon
for matching salary without Knight or Chriss then it would mean Nene and future pick(s)

he said he want to avoid repeater tax if Rockets just a playoff team
he is willing to pay the tax if Rockets win
if Rockets can win with Butler i don't see why he wont?

Just curious, why do you think he would be a great fit?

MIN fan in peace, guys are you comfortable to trade Gordon, Tucker and FRP for Butler? Also, could you share your thoughts of Tucker and Gordon?

Comfortable? No. Would I? Probably even with my love of both players, but I don’t think y’all would because there has to be better offers.

Gordon is more valuable to us than to other teams, but he would give y’all an outside shooter for Wiggins and towns. Tucker quickly became my favorite rocket because he seems to give everything all the time. I would miss both players, but adding butler (and his potential to resign because it’s home) is too enticing. Then again, he may not want to be behind harden and Paul

But I think y’all will get a better offer than that

I don't think that Tucker will be part of any possible deal.

The Rockets are not going to rip up too much of the team to star-chase a guy who probably has eyes only for NY/LA next year.

Not to mention we don’t really have anyone who can replace what Tucker brings, at least that I know of.

I get the impression that JB is a diva. Still wouldn't mind having him for the right price. Don't want EG or Tucker gone. So we can trade Knight or Chriss by themselves without having to wait till Oct. 31st from what they're saying. A 3-4 way team deal would have to be made if Rockets wanted JB. A far stretch from happening.

Granted that most players should thrive when they play alongside 2 of the best playmakers in Paul and Harden, I think Butler is a rare commodity, with one of the best 2-way games. I really don't see any real weakness except he hasn't proven that he could handle taking a heavy load of 3s while maintaining high efficiency. However, he does shoot well enough to get by. He can guard the opposing 1-3, creates for himself, draws a ton fouls, and has high motor. Our defense would easily be top 3, and the guy has proven, especially in his earlier career, that he could play without the ball. A lineup consisting of Capela-Tucker-Butler-Harden-Paul is just flat out scary. :D

But I think we all agree that he will come with a hefty price tag and that it's going to hard to juggle our a few assets to get him. Capela and Tucker are definitely off limits. It's also hard to lose Gordon unless we add another accountable shooter. Melo has a great value-to-salary ratio, so that leaves us with basically role players, which is going to extremely difficult to pull. The Timberpups would certainly want to start with Tucker and Gordon.
