I wanted to see his interview and compare it to Kawhi's. See which android is further along in development

Did anyone even mention Richaun Holmes and Darrell Arthur? I’m curious what their roles will be.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist but I find it odd he got so little media coverage given that he was our second best player last year. I know Igor and Ryan made comments about his improvement but that comes off as trade baitey to me when you don’t back it up by marketing him with media.

McD said Arthur has a medical issue that will prevent him from joining the team for training camp. I don't think he'll join the team this season.

Mikel Bridges and Warren did not make the interview with EJ and Tom, but they talked to others in the building.

Yeah that's exactly what I thought. They're never going to talk one of their assets down, so hyping him up and trying to prick the airs of potential trade candidates is what all that screamed of.

I hope he has improved his 3pt shot, but you seem to hear this every year and I won't be shocked at all if he goes like 4 from 20 over his first 5-6-7 games, then he just stops taking them entirely.

I don't remember hearing it with him every year. I remember hearing it with Len before and it never happened, but Watson always talked a lot of fluff.

It's time to maximize the value of our assets.

When does training camp start?

Isn't there a live scrimmage on 9/29?

We're playing the New Zealand Breakers next week - which is my country's 'entry' in the Australian Basketball League.

God help us if the Suns lose, cos everyone knows I'm a die-hard Suns fan!!

How you liking NZ's team this season? Long was a great pick up. The other 2 imports look pretty meh compared to the standard we're seeing other teams get this season though. Pretty decent in terms of local talent.

Also do you guys know whose going to start at PG?

I really love both your rooks but would be sweet to see Shaq Harrison get the nod. Obviously more experience under his belt and the starting lineup should have good spacing to pair with him.

Tough to say. If we assume Canaan doesn't make the roster and we don't make a trade for a starting level PG, I would say it's probably Harrison because he doesn't make many mistakes (3.6 a:to in the SL and 2.5 a:to through 23 games last season), can make the simple passes, he's relatively efficient from 2 points and has already exhibited high level defense.

If Harrison has improved his 3PT shooting as he supposedly have and can hit it at the .350 clip, he's probably going to be our starting PG going forward.

If we don't trade for anyone, my bet would be Shaq, with a slim chance for Elie. If Canaan somehow makes the roster he might have a legit shot, but I don't see how he can make it...I think he ends up with a two way contract.

Yeah when I saw we got Long I nearly hit the guy next to me - I vividly remember seeing him have a really nice stretch for Philly, so hit the game log up and he was really solid. So it'll be good to have an inside scoring presence with some athleticism, paired with the usual suspects. Braswell was a great floor general so I hope his coaching pays off.

I really like Jordan Ngatai - he's got good size and is quite crafty, just needs his 3pt shot to keep falling. I'm not as convinced as everyone else seems to be about Ili at PG - really small, really shoot first. Wish we had a true PG to set Long up with easy buckets.

Also, for those who don't know (and why would you unless you're a kiwi!), one of the main reasons the NZ Breakers are playing the Suns is through the Marion connection. He is part of the ownership group, which is pretty cool:

Thanks for the replies guys, I won't quote everyone. If Shaq has actually improved his shot, I think he'd be great starting at point. From what I've seen his form is pretty good and FT rate decent. He's the sort of smart utlity guy that can run things, play off of others and provide high level defense, which is what you guys need.

If Okobo ends up backing up, it'd be a real pity that Melton has to sit (and vice versa, really). Melton looks the absolute goods.

Interesting that you bring up Canaan as well, from what I recall he was having a really good season with you guys before the injury. Sucks for him but you guys are deep now.

And TASTIC, that run with the Sixers is what came to my mind as well - really productive. I haven't watched NZ much so I'm not too sure about the newer guys, I'll have to check out Ngatai. Ili caught my eyes on the box scores last year. You might be right about needing more of a playmaker at PG.

NBL's getting more and more quality imports, I'm enjoying seeing the rosters shape together each season and improving. Would love to see more non-NBA Aussies join back in the league, as well as the rising stars rule be more utilized. Also, is Tai Webster on the Breakers radar, and what about Wynyard? I haven't really followed that kid since he joined Kentucky but must be one of the biggest names coming out of NZ.

Yeah more and more fringe NBA guys are coming to the ANBL which is cool.

Webster's in Europe I think, but his bro Corey is starting SG. Needs to keep his head straight and he'll have a good season - he can score and shoot, just has 'off-field distractions' that have plagued him a bit.

Wynyard...no idea what happened with him. There was some scandal involving a gun at a party or something, such a waste. Just googled him - he's at Santa Clara now I think???
