Re: It's over: Bud Out, To Milwaukee
Bud has officially hired away Longstaff and 2 other scouts from us:
NBA.comThe Milwaukee Bucks have named Josh Longstaff as an assistant coach on the staff of Head Coach Mike Budenholzer.
In addition, the Bucks have made the following hires: Zach Peterson as head video coordinator and Schuyler Rimmer as player development and video assistant.
Longstaff spent last season as the inaugural head coach of the Erie BayHawks, the G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, where he led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Peterson was most recently head video coordinator for the Hawks. He joined Atlanta in 2014 and served as a seasonal assistant in basketball operations as well as in the video department.
An Orlando, Florida, native, Rimmer worked as a video/player development seasonal assistant last season with the Atlanta Hawks.

NBC SportsCan Mike Budenholzer lift Milwaukee to top of East?
Unfortunately for the Milwaukee Bucks, coach Jason Kidd’s offensive and defensive philosophies seemed stuck in an era [long past].
Enter Mike Budenholzer.
The former right-hand man to Gregg Popovich who went on to coach the Hawks to a 60-win season was brought in as an Xs and Os guru who would simplify the defense, then put Antetokounmpo and other Milwaukee players in a faster offense that worked to get their stars better looks.
How much can a coach and a system lift a team? Milwaukee is going to find out, and they are betting it’s a lot.
Budenholzer’s offensive philosophy and motion offense fit better with the Bucks’ talent. He wants to run and get the ball out in transition, then use pace, misdirection, and side-to-side ball movement to create space for their stars to work in the half court. Then there’s the floor spacing, the Bucks were 25th in the league in percentage of shots from three, but a new philosophy and adding Brook Lopez and Ersan Ilyasova this offseason should help change that. The Bucks are going to shoot threes and that should open up lanes for Antetokounmpo and Bledsoe to get to the rim. This should look like a different Bucks team.
Budenholzer has also talked about simplifying the system and reads on defense, something that should be welcomed in the Bucks’ locker room.
Can Budenholzer make the Bucks a threat to Boston this season? Unlikely. But if everything comes together in a new system, how good can this Bucks’ team be, if Antetokounmpo looks like an MVP candidate again and the defense is improved. Philadelphia and Toronto may want to look over their shoulder and keep an eye on the Bucks.

Great spot for Bud. What he can do with a team with a legit star and decent sidekick will really determine whether he ascends to be an elite coach or stays in the middle tier.

I do think they are poised for a deep playoff run in MIL with Bud at the helm.
I also suspect that, two years from now, we'll see a slow but steady descent in post season success as teams figure out their scheme.

I get the understanding scheme thing as it pertains to Atlanta but one of the failings of the Atlanta squad was having a bonafide 'go get a bucket' player. If the offense wasn't running like a well oiled machine points were difficult from anyone player.
Bucks have Giannis.

I suppose. It'll be fun to watch it play out against the likes of Philly, Toronto and Boston.

I know a lot of people don't believe in it, but if you have an efficient offense, that sacrificing offensive rebounds for transition D can really help win a lot of games.

Ha. We started lovingly calling it a 'fast broke' anyway.
It was like they eschewed the whole 'Highlight Factory" moniker to the point where they never wanted a fast break to happen.
Yeah. "Easy buckets"? Who wants that?
Hope the Bux grow to love Giannis walkin' it up.
Yeah, we'll get to see just how flexible Bud is when it comes to his system and ideologies...
Is there any player that can stop Giannis from running the entire length of the floor in transition?

Congratulations to Coach Budz! Being #1 in the east again. I don't think he gets enough credit for the huge leap Giannis took this year, from raw talent to MVP front runner.

Mike Budenholzer severing that last tie to the ATL:
Did he just abandon all his Hawks related memorabilia when he moved to MIL?

Mike Budenholzer is closing out his tab in the ATL. The off-season is here, and he’s listed his mansion in Atlanta for $2.4 million
Former Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer just finished up a stellar season in Milwaukee. But between leaving the Hawks in April 2018 and signing a four-year contract to lead the Bucks one month later, Budenholzer didn't have a ton of downtime to tie up all of his loose ends in the Peach State.
It now appears Budenholzer is ready to close out his tab in the ATL. The off-season is here, and he’s listed his mansion in Atlanta's Morningside neighborhood for $2.4 million.Spoiler:
