Don't forget Alex Hornibrook.

I know you're just dying to fire up the "Hornibook for Heisman" slogan for next season.

Nice job by the Brewers (or Yelichs agent) with this coordinated press run to help his MVP chances. Interviews and articles all hitting this week.

Cain's is "valued" at $44.9. I admittedly didn't love that signing at the time but I'm happy to look wrong as of now. I did love the Yelich trade from the get go so at least was 50% right this winter lol.

Enjoy reading some old takes.

I remember I was out and about on the Cain/Yelich night which was probably good because I basically said, "I am in the middle" on the Yelich deal and that was about it and might have said stuff a bit more incriminating. That said, I think I was a Cain signing guy all along.

Some absolutely terrible takes.

I loved this deal from the start, and Yelich was my boy. People way overvalue prospects. Cain signing was a bit confusing with the number of OF's we have had, but his defense has been great. With the decline of Santana we would not be where we are without him

Meh, if that was the worst thing I posted I'm pretty ok with it. :)

Pretty sure MD's bump is bit out of context as other posts show I never had a problem with Yelich and I thought he was good. I think in the first reports of the deal the announced return was Brinson and Diaz and I didn't love when it came out that Harrison and Yamamoto were going too.

This is exactly where I was at. I went back and reread my stuff and I said I was on board when it was Brinson and Diaz then they announced the other two and I thought that seemed steep and said Yelich better hit .300 with 30 HR 100 RBI and 25 SBs and he has!

Feel free to roast me over my comments. Cain and Yelich have both been out of this world this season.

The crazy part about our offense is that all of our primary bats are under control through 2020 or later, and that's not counting a guy like Hiura joining the fray. Need to upgrade catcher and the rotation still needs to be figured out (Woodruff and Burnes need to be legit). Pen is looking strong for foreseeable future as well.

But I've been led to believe this board knows everything about not only in-game strategies for every major sport, but also roster construction in those sports as well. So am I now to believe that the people who are employed to craft said strategies and rosters (I don't know, let's just call them the 'experts' in this area) actually know what they're doing? But what do I now do with the thousands of posts on this board, you know the ones riddled with sarcasm, condescension and exasperation, that explain how wrong these experts are?

Such a confusing day.

No argument here. I was wrong a few times in the offseason thread but I've been in the brigade of "trust Stearns/Counsell" from day 1 of this season, especially on the "what the hell are they thinking?" stuff with moving Shaw to 2B, bullpen decisions, etc.

Has always been the case and will always be the case. And usually even a trade like Yelich's wouldn't make people learn their lesson. But the fact that David Stearns, a GM with a fantastic track record, acquired a 26-year old, legit 5-tooler, MVP frontrunner, in the prime of his career, a guy with arguably the prettiest swing in baseball, and happens to making practically peanuts over the next 4 years, will hopefully caution folks not to overreact next time.

None of us are scouts. Some pay more attention to the Minor Leagues than others. Still, its an inexact science. Lets appreciate that Stearns has not only proven to know exactly when to sell, when to buy, but also when to get hyper aggressive when a situation like Yelich's presents itself. All in three short years as GM. In-f**king-credible work by this man.

Glad I ended up on the right side of history, atm at least, saying it was a good trade overall. Forgot how rapid news was that day with the Yelich trade and then immediately signing Cain.

Both teams got screwed a couple times yesterday. RHH for the Brewers and LHH for the Cards. That call on Carpenter wasn't as bad as we've seen in the past (top pic, red triangle to the left).

Yelich post AS break. In braun's MVP season, i can't remember a tear like that.
Other news. I got off tonight from work, so they best clinch tonight.

Reading that Yelich/Cain acquisition thread was hella entertaining. Twirlz had a rough rough off-season and it continues now into this miraculous run. I think one of the more bizarre encounters I’ve ever had on this board was Turk and Twirlz trying to sell me in limited numbers and actual bizarro adherence to their opinion that Thames was a better option than Granderson last night. Regardless, I got over that initial Yelich/Cain flurry hella quick. It’s hard to believe Kidd got fired around that time as well. What an offseason!

Also feels like the Crew is getting hot at just the right time. Rockies could say the same as well I suppose. I'm excited for the playoffs.
