No, one game playoff in Chicago for the division.

I think a one game tiebreaker game for the division is stupid. If you don't just go by head to head records then why even have divisions in the first place?

No way, that is one area baseball has over the other leagues. You have to win your way to a Division/into the playoffs, no silly tie breaker procedure.

The Pirates shouldn't have let the Cubs off the hook in a close game by not forcing them to face their young nasty man Vazquez. Too hung up on the archaic unwritten rule you can't pitch your closer in a tie game on the road.

Keith Law picks deGrom as NL MVP
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

But you did win your way to a division....by beating the 2nd place team more times than you lost to them. One game playoff amounts to a crap shoot.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I don't have a huge problem with it. You've played 162 games and ended up with the exact same record and you may have likely beaten the team you're tied with like 9-8 in the season series. Let them play one more time to see who ends up with 1 more win in the standings.

I mean, yeah. The only other argument is Scherzer and you can't even knock deGrom down with the usual "his team wasn't a contender" because Scherzer's team wasn't either. deGrom was clearly better.

In before someone says, "he was talking about MVP and not Cy Young" where you bring back the gotcha WAR-only analysis of this.

I'm fine with deGrom being the MVP but you can just make this practical and have MVP essentially be "offensive/position player MVP" and Cy Young essentially be "pitching MVP."

Oh, I just assumed Cy Young because pretty much nobody votes a pitcher for MVP. I wouldn't really have a problem with deGrom as MVP but it's never going to happen because pretty much nobody puts pitchers higher than like 5th.

Kershaw and Verlander won MVPs in the last ten years.

I don't see the issue with h2h record mattering otherwise why play 19 games or whatever it is against opponents in your division?

I prefer to see the best teams make the playoffs and seeded by most wins. Not lesser team making it because they won a bad division while the better team misses out altogether.
