It just slays me how fans of other teams want to tell you how valuable their assets are yet they secretly would be ecstatic to dump their marginal players with crappy contracts. Tyler Johnson’s contract makes Wiggin’s deal look like a bargain. Whiteside couldn’t even see the court for MIA at the end of the year and in the playoffs and has tons of personal baggage. Waiters is a turd as a player and in the locker room and looks like he ate Oprah Winfrey during his offseason.

Yeah but Twix thinks Heat have all the leverage and Twolves only choice is to accept their negative scraps.

LOL!

Tell them to comeback mid season with the standings on the table.

This is a big misrepresentation of Twix. He is a Heat fan who wants to see what is going on here and chat with us. Just a little delusional about the value of their negative scraps, but he never said we need to accept the scraps.

You aren’t the GM of the Heat, and we aren’t the GM of the Wolves, even if you convince someone with lies, it does not change our favorite teams one bit.

If you don’t want to discuss things honestly, then you should stay on your own board.

It was really stupid lol. Like cringe stupid.

Jimmy and his agent are basically in control of this whole situation. If he were to get trade knowingly or unknowingly his agent would still know before woj.

No. Without a NTC, he has no control.

Players have often learned they’ve been traded over the internet, before the front office gets a phone call to the player or his agent.

It was cringe stupid...yikes.

But Jimmy and his agent aren't really in control. What's in control are what teams are willing to offer. He could really go to the Kings if they gave us something worth trading for..

Teams will know if Jimmy is going to re-sign from his agent, but it's just a matter of time before someone is like "we'll take the risk"

I don't have proof of this, but I'm virtually certain that Jimmy requested the trade because of the KAT ultimatum. He needs to be traded so a team will offer him the SuperMax next year. The only team that will have the option to do that is whoever we trade him to. I'm not sure how much difference that is. I've heard $30 Million and I've heard $50 million. If the team that has him offers that I'm virtually certain again Jimmy will take it. No need to worry about rental.

I believe the team that has Butler's bird rights can offer him $190M/5 years while the most all other teams can offer is $141M/4 years, so the difference is around $49M.

With KAT I heard it's $158 Million if he doesn't qualify for the SuperMax, but 190 Million with it. So for him if that is right it's only 32 Million. I wonder why so different.

That's what this season about. Fighting against superteam. I think we should use this moment if HOU wants Butler for Tucker, Gordon, FRP. If we able somehow send Dieng to SAC without losing that FRP from HOU this would be a really good trade for us. I still think that Thibs kind of gone crazy in talks with PHI if he asked for Simmons, but if Saric, RoCo and FRP is out of reach, then HOU offer should be second option. I highly doubt that MIA gives us Richardson, Bam and FRP for Butler. So move on. I just hope we can get the trade done this week and have whole preseason to build some chemistry

Richardson, Olynyk and FRP wouldn't be bad.

That's a fair deal. Hard to believe Pat Riley hasn't jumped at that one for a top 10 player like Jimmy.

The main reason Butler could get $49M more is the 5th year on the contract at over $40M. In KAT's case, if he makes an All-NBA team he is eligible for a higher salary the first year of his extension (and corresponding higher salary for each of the 5 years of the contract). The two scenarios have completely different mechanisms that trigger the jumps in overall contract value.

I never understood why people say he gets ... blank... amount of money more, thats simply not true. I mean sure he'll get more money(I think) but people need to understand that the difference isn't the entirety of that 5th year because the difference would be what he's getting in that 5th year compared to what he'd be getting in that 1st year of his next contract.

It's the security of that money guaranteed. No need to fear injury etc...
