Crew at Scrubs - Division Tiebreaker Game

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Sun Sep 30, 2018 10:28 pm

Tiebreaker game but not an elimination game. FSN has pregame at 11:30 and will do post game. Win and play at home Thursday against the WC winner. Lose and play Tuesday at home against the Dodgers/Rockies loser.

Chacin and option, Anderson, Bullpen.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I believe it's Quitana's spot in their rotation but whether he's pitching or not who knows. Otherwise Lester on 3 days rest.

Quintana dominated us last time out. Yelich is 1-11 against him. Moose hits him well but Shaw is 1-16. That means Schoop but he's 2-15 against him.

I think I'd go Chacin w/ a quickish hook then bullpen. I might say full bullpen, but Hader has been shaky lately. I'm reticent to even pitch him in high leverage until he's proven he's regained confidence. Also, Guerra was burned today as a reliable long-man.

Follow-up question: If Chacin is in trouble early, which bullpen arm gets the call first to eat up some innings to replace his we lost? Woodruff? Burnes? Chase Chases him? Or do you trust Hader to go more than one inning w/ a couple lefty match-ups w/in at this point?

Hopefully enough Crew fans are in the ballpark so Cubs' fans aren't deafening during Brewer AB's.

I don't think we'll know for sure until tomorrow morning. CC said there will be "discussions" tonight.

Cubs went through 9 pitchers today. Not sure that means anything short term but if they get a short start tomorrow and lose it might mean something in the wild card game.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Hopefully this is that 1 in 10 game where we get to Quintana early. It's odd, I'm never really that impressed with his stuff but he typically makes the Crew look very pedestrian at the plate.

Chachin. short leash. If there was ever a day to let Hader go 3 IP- this is the game.

no it isn't. if they do that and they lose, he's not available for a real playoff game.

It's a conundrum. There are obviously advantages to winning but it's not an elimination game. Have to be careful with the bullpen because the rosters shrink after tomorrow. Of course if you win you get 2 days off.

I hate it so much that it lines up for Quintana

The arrogance of the Cubs makes my blood boil I want to win so bad.

Javy Baez on what he’s seen from the Brewers and their relentless pursuit: “They’ve got good talent. I think we’ve got better… We’ve just got to keep our plan. We don’t worry about anybody. We know what we’ve got. We’re just going to go out there and play hard.”

I wish I could skip work tomorrow. Busy day planned and can't afford to. But I'll be following it here and via gamecast. Depending on how it goes, I'll watch it off of my DVR when I get home.

The loser having to back up the next day is pretty tough. Dare I say both managers might hope this one is over early so they don't waste any arms.
