Martin never stood a chance at getting his first win with Gaviglio and Biagini out there.
I wonder if they'll consider having him coach next year. There's really no value in having him take up a catching spot with the depth the Jays have at the position.

No reason to have him coach either.

Maybe Russ and Tulo can co-coach...
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

Man one more loss and we would have past giants and had a better pick. #10 overall (9th overall worse record) instead of #11.

Same record. Was there a coin flip?

Tiebreaker is previous season record, and the Giants were worse in 2017.

**** your asterisk.

Thanks. Thought that could be it, but really wasn't sure.

That is a terrible tie breaker. I thought it was strength of schedule or something like that.

Re: August to Infinity - The who-gives-a-damn-week thread
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the MLB Players Association has filed a grievance on behalf of Carter Stewart, the Braves’ first-round selection (No. 8 overall) in the 2018 draft. The Braves did not sign Stewart in part because of a physical that gave them cause for concern. MLB set the slot value for No. 8 at $4,980,700 million. In order to qualify for draft pick compensation for failing to sign their first-rounder, the Braves would have had to have offered Stewart 40 percent of slot value, or a minimum of $1,992,280. According to the grievance, they did not.
so thanks to AA, we might able to move up a spot.

AA is a vet GM, he knows the rules especially after not signing Bickford and Beede. I have a hard time imagining that AA and his team didnt offer at least 40%.

I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't certain conditions attached somehow. I wouldn't be surprised to find out AA tried to push the limits of what was required. That said, I'm pretty skeptical about anything agents do, too, and this has the stink of representation trying to bypass the draft process entirely.
