Right, stars, Porter and Middleton are not stars. Middleton has at least has came close to being an all-star, Porter not really.

They are stars. Any top 50 player in the league is a star. There aren't even two of those top 50 players in the league per team.

We just don't see eye to eye on this, I don't think 1/3 of the number of starters in the league are stars. Good players sure, stars in my opinion no. I don't see all that many people talking about we gotta go see Otto Porter tonight or even Kris Middleton. You can be a good player without being a star.

Whiteside with 20pts 13rb so far
Maybe he is not a bad trade asset for us

I've been watching this game and I feel like the Heat commentators are trying to feel Whiteside to us lol. They have been singing his praises from tip.

Maybe you guys don't find this as amusing as I do but on the trade machine I tried Butler, dieng for olynyk, waiters and Richardson. It works and it shows a record estimate of -6 wins. I then added Patton going out and Bam coming in. It also worked but it changed the estimate to -12. So apparently, losing Justin Patton and replacing him with bam is going to cost us 6 additional wins. Lol

Calinks wrote:Yea a Heat offer of Bam, Richardson, and a pick sounds really good. I don't know much about Rich but have heard good things. I also dont think the Heat are giving up too much for a guy like Butler who will have a mega impact.

When you think about what the Wolves gave up for Butler, getting those two players and a pick back would be comparable. The pick wouldn't be as high as what the Wolves gave up, but the Wolves wouldn't be getting the equivalent of Patton back either. It certainly does not seem like an unreasonable starting point. I'm just talking reasonable return based on what went out to get Butler, so I'm not looking at this from the dreaded "leverage" angle because that word was exhausted on this board during the Love trade.

Charlotte gets the best backcourt in the east, Wolves get 2 shooters, a great defensive player, 2 future 1sts rid of Dieng‘s last year for a disgruntled Butler, and Butler out the west.

Not even close.

Lol how when the only strong offers are from the Heat and Houston? They aren’t giving up Bam and Richardson and is an EG+Chriss+pick 28-30 doesn’t seem that much better.

The 2019 1st, unprotected or not, is going to be in the 20’s, as Butler makes the Bobcats a Top 3 team in the east. The package of MKG, Marvin and Lamb is neutral at best. On top of this, if you are holding back Bridges and Monk, the only piece with true value is an unprotected 2021 1st. It’s a risk, and it wouldn’t confer until long after Thibs lost his job, so I think that’s a no.

Gordon is a decent enough player that keeps the Wolves in the running to make the playoffs, which Thibs may also need. I think HOU would need to come up with a way to offload Dieng though to be competitive.

With preseason underway, I'm beginning to wonder if the pressure to deal Butler quickly is disappearing. At this point, all the other organizations have made their low-ball offers, leaked the rumors they want out there, and have tried to pressure Taylor to make a bad deal. The focus is now switching away from Butler to the actual NBA games and teams are moving forward. Factor in the exhaustion factor with the situation, and I can easily see Butler sitting at home for an extended stretch. The only real question I have is will Thibs start the 30 day clock for Butler to join the team.

An extremely high up source (my son) says he heard a recent interview (last couple days) with KAT where he says he has no problem playing with Jimmy Butler. I found this interview on YouTube that was originally on ESPN Sept. 24 2018. This was absolutely after Towns signed his extension.

at the 4:30 mark KAT is asked about his relationship with Jimmy Butler and says that he has no problem with Jimmy whatsoever. So unless KAT is flat out lying I've been operating under false information this whole time. If KAT isn't lying there never was any ultimatum. Any thoughts?

I think there is real chance that Towns made it clear before signing his extension that he didn't want to play with Butler long term. That's a very different thing from not being willing to play with Jimmy this season (I get the impression KAT was fine with Butler as lin the short term). I've come to truly believe that the vast majority of the problem lies with Butler. Gibson worked out with Jimmy this Summer and was truly shocked that he refused to report, and Rose never saw any indications that the situation would warrant what's happening. I think it's just Butler's lack of professionalism that started the problem and his immaturity that escalated the issue.

Per this interview unless KAT is lying, lying, lying he has no problem with playing with Jimmy whatsoever short or long term. What was Butler's lack of professionalism? Being a bit too open about frustration with teammates? Is their one iota of truth to the rumors that Jimmy messed around with KAT GF? Jimmy has always been very professional on the court and in his preparations.

I know it's a bit late, but this is huge news debunking the KAT hating Butler thing. I'm surprised this hasn't spawned pages of replies. If true we can hold onto Jimmy unless Taylor is a freaking idiot.

If you believe KAT in that interview you are being willfully gullible. He isn’t going to bring more drama in an interview like that by talking badly about Butler. Every single one of the players is probably getting coached by the team with set responses about Butler as to not weaken our position with the trade negotiations. If KAT says, “Yeah I refuse to play with that jerk!” In and interview you can kiss any leverage you had goodbye.

I fully understand that people lie. I had already lost a lot of respect for KAT when I heard about the ultimatum. So either he's telling the truth and my respect is restored or he is lying and I can never respect him again. The level of low if he is lying is beyond my tolerance.

The ultimate reality of Kat & Wiggins vs Jimmy is simply that glen probably doesn’t want to go over the cap paying jimmy 190m which is slightly understandable.

I’m pretty sure if glen was willing to pay jimmy there would be no issues. Kat and Wiggins probably don’t “love” jimmy but don’t hate him. I’m sure all of us can relate to that by having a colleague you dislike or don’t always get along with.

Doesn’t mean you just stop going to work or ask for that person to be fired.

If we weren't willing to supermax Jimmy when his contract expired we shouldn't have traded for him in the first place. If that is the case I despise Taylor. It seems that all the problems with the Wolves can be traced back to Taylor and people are trying to make Scapegoats out of Thibs and Butler.
