GT: CHA vs. BOS, 9/28, NBATV and FSS

Post#81 » by BigSlam » Sat Sep 29, 2018 1:40 pm

Thoughts:

Kemba rushed it too much
Parker was terrible
Graham really excites me

Lamb looked smooth
Bacon is Bacon (stop playing 1 on 5)

Batum is more palatable at the 3 surrounded by scorers
Bridges took too many bad shots

Williams was invisible
Kidd-Gilchrist playing the impact 6 guy is what I've been asking for for 3 seasons now. I like it

Zeller gots to Zeller. Hard hat and lunch pale. Good dude.
Kaminisky was and is still trash
Hernangomez looked pretty good

Right, because I'm sure your contributions to those championships was indispensable. What was your stat line btw?

(I agree your comment shouldn't have been dragged to this thread, but fans who act as if they have expertise simply because their team is successful - something they have absolutely no effect on - is a pet peeve of mine.)

I only drag particularly egregious comments over because I'm sure I would be banned If I replied to that on the Celtics board. The smugness of these Celtics fans are insufferable. They have one title in the last 30 years and they act like they are the cream of the crop in the whole NBA. I want to pull for the Raptors to knock them out, they are that bad. And I'm sure this one is just a bandwagon fan

I was about to post something similar.
Graham looks like he could challenge kemba (meaning we might can look to move kemba)
Batum is playing like he used too which was near an allstar level
MKG played well off the bench in a pf position FINALLY
Bridges played aggressive and I liked it. Better than I thought he would be. He looks quick enough to play sf and strong
enough to play pf.
kamisnky and parker played about as well as I think they can.
Bacon has improved but still lacks team chemestry. I still see potential tho
Glad we still have Monk and kubolka who could add something.

Weird to see Graham didn't make CAROLINA or dook. He would have made both programs better.

Graham isnt challenging Walker for anything.

Kemba and Cam Newton are MODEL players who CAROLINIANS have been fortunate enough to have. I know I have been the hardest on MKG and Kemba out of everyone here. (Huge fan of both btw) but with kemba I have always looked at him as an asset more than an actual asset. Meaning I think we could get a good return for him and still replace him with the right person. That person could be Graham barring injury.

If Lamb vs Monk is truly a competition to see who starts opening night then I would like Monk to get the start tomorrow against Boston, get some minutes with the starters and go from there.

Holy hell, I burst out laughing at the Graham replacing Kemba comment. I love early season reactions so much

This is preseason so I really don't put any weight into any individual performances.

With that said, I like Willy at C over Frank unless Frank is just on fire from outside. I think what we get in offensive flexibility we more than lose in poor rebounding and defense, and it's not like Willy is exactly a black hole on offense. Feels like Frank's role will be plugging him in and hoping things click and if they don't defaulting to Willy, which seems like a clunky rotation.

I guess Frank vs. Willy is very much an academic argument, could see preferring either. At this point I'm team Willy.

Thoughts:

-Love the noticeably quicker gameplan. It suits everyone. Defense was a mess, hopefully just a result of the vets knowing it doesn't matter right now.

-Kemba played like it was a late-season game that doesn't matter. Took a handful of shots, a few questionable ones, and wasn't aggressive. Don't care personally.

-BRIDGES CAN FLY. Love those putbacks.Otherwise, his play didn't really give me a ton of confidence. Couple nice threes, but a couple of bad misses too

-MKG's free throw form looked better to me. Whether he starts or not doesn't matter to me, as long as he's out there when we're playing fast.

-Frank sucked at everything. I don't know why people think he can play center. He'll get wrecked on the glass and on D nightly, even as a backup. We have better options. He shouldn't play at all on nights where he can't hit 3s.

-Willy was solid outside of his FT shooting.

-Disappointed we didn't see Biz but understandable we wanted to try Frank and Willy.

-Unimpressed with Graham and Bacon.

-Lamb looked good scoring.

-Batum looked better with other scoring options around him. Shocker, I know.

-Zeller is still Zeller. we got the token preseason three again and it looks good. PLEASE DO THIS IN REAL GAMES

-I know Marvin played, but I can't remember a thing he did.

Well, hes arguably even worse trying to guard athletic 4s and his face up game doesn't work at all against the quicker modern 4s. At least at the 5 he can theoretically drag the opposing rim protector away from the basket and he'll have a quickness advantage against his man a lot of the time, which should make his face up game more viable.

The issue might be that he just isn't good, but its Frank, so who knows. I never know what is going on with that dude.

the fact that Zeller and Willy are hitting 3's, makes Franks value even less
