Andrew Wiggins auction

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Mon Oct 1, 2018 3:20 pm

Here is the scenario. I'm Tom Thibodeau and Glen Taylor just came to me with the following directive.

"Tom, when we move Butler it's extremely unlikely that we can continue being a playoff team. And with that in mind I believe it makes no sense to try and keep patching holes around KAT. KAT is locked up for a long time, lets use that time to rebuild in earnest. I see the Andrew Wiggins contract as a roadblock to rebuilding rather than a piece of a rebuild. Lets move him now while he still has value. Tear it down, build it up again. Make sure we are a top 4 team in the West by the time KAT's contract negotiations come up."

Make me an offer for Wiggins! Everything except KAT or our picks is on the table. (including Butler) I'm looking for rebuilding pieces.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Would anyone be interested in something like Wiggins and Dieng for a low or protected 1st and some expirings?

Most teams don't have $40.5 million in expirings.

I know yesterday’s game wasn’t a direct depiction of what to expect from him this season, but he looked terrible. Awful defense, terrible shooting and just didn’t look good and definitely not worth 30m a year.

Maybe because he was playing out of position (assuming he’s best suited playing the 2)?

Wiggins to Sacramento for Shumpert, Koufos and McLemore.

That's the only team I can see giving up expirings for Wiggins.

Yeah Wiggins salary make a rebuilding trade challenging. I don’t really have any ideas but I disagree to some extent on the premise. I think you have to give Wiggins a little more of a chance and his value may actually improve as he may improve as a player and his contract will be less of a negative in a year or two.

Could we add in Dieng and you throw in Zach Randolph and a top 20 protected 1st that eventually converts into 2nds?

Don't see the Kings tying up all their cap space for the next 3-4 years on a lottery team and giving up a pick in the process, but who knows.

I'll start the bidding with

Spurs out: Mills + Gasol + Raps 1st
Spurs in: Wiggins

Wolves out: Wiggins
Wolves in: Gasol + Arthur + Raps 1st

Suns out: Arthur
Suns in: Mills

Spurs gamble on Wiggins

Wolves get expirings basically(6mil gtd on Gasol next year) + raps 1st

Suns get a PG

Hoping to move Dieng in the deal. Maybe wait til december when Deing and Gay could be included?

Long shot but maybe at the dl if Butler has sat out half the season and the Wolves are sub 500 along with many other factors such as the Magic still struggling with AG as their top player, along with Denver wanting to make a big upgrade defensively and feel they can contend & retain Jimmy.

Denver out: Harris,Lyles,2019 first if 1-12 and not transferred to Nets, or 2021 first unprotected if 2019 first falls between 13-30 going to the Nets.Draft rights to Petr Cornelie .

Don't see the suns taking on Mills for a cheaper expiring in Arthur. Suns rather keep their cap clean and sign a PG in offseason that fits their team/age.

Wouldn't trade Gay straight up for Wiggins. Not including him for Dieng.

If you don't want Dieng we'll add Forbes and you can try to package him + Raps pick to Kings for cap.

I'm getting vertigo trying to read your post the way it's formatted. Gimme a sec.

whoh

So, we give up both Wiggins and Butler and get back Gordon basically? Oh, and I have to give up a 1st? I can't be sending out firsts as a rebuilding team. Take that out and we'll talk.

You can't take one very bad contract (Wiggins) and move another (Dieng) with it. It's either Wiggins for expirings with Kings ( and I think Kings should ask for some insentive on top), or Wiggins for some lesser bad contract.

You wouldn't trade a 32 year old Gay for 23 year old Wiggins as a semi rebuilding Spurs?? I think we are playing in different stadiums...

Are rebuilding teams going to or not going to send out a first in this scenario?

Hey, Dennis Lindsey. I'm in discussions for Aaron Gordon for Butler and Wiggins. I was wondering if you'd like to make a bid with Exum as your main piece since Exum and Gordon were drafted so closely?

I can only control what my team does. Vlade has his own priorities.
