Or not. No fumble.
Still a fumble right? Just not lost possession

Right. A fumble. Not a fumble lost.

Why? Because of course. Of course it's going to end that way.

We can’t win with a defense like ours. I imagine that we’re going to make a DC change in the offseason if things don’t change

49ers linemen can’t run down Phil Rivers.

All those first round picks.

Watch them go to other teams and play like all pros.

How do you not pick up James? It was obvious he was blitzing

Well, at the end of the day, it was a lot better than I expected. In some ways that makes it worse, cause we really probably should have won that game. Beathard looked miles better than he did last year. He's still a borderline (generously) NFL starter, but he showed that he can at least be a solid backup and possibly more. Hard to say how well he's seeing the field (or not) without looking at the All-22, and I'm sure he was missing some guys, but he seemed quite a bit more decisive than last year and was generally pretty accurate. Kittle had a great day - a few days after some folks were asking where his McDonald-style long TDs were. The OL struggled, but SD also committed to regularly blitzing and ultimately Beathard couldn't handle it. Still, this was a step in the right direction for him. And he exhibited the toughness that was basically his one demonstrable strength last year. I'm just worried about him lasting the season.

D is still a problem. The CBs just aren't getting it done. In part because we have no outside pass rush yet again. The tackling was better...which is pathetic because it was still awful, particularly late in the game. I want the guys to keep fighting, but at this point, I'm fine with the high draft pick we're likely to get. This team still needs major help at a number of positions.

I’m so glad they FINALLY put Mabin in. I’ve felt he should have gotten the nod over Ward. After the way he played I’d put him in over Witherspoon. I see he also made PFF’s defensive team of the week. 89.2 grade.

Maiocco:
Solomon Thomas played a season-high 49 snaps, including 27 pass-rush downs, but managed only one pressure.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
