I understand why hes in GS, but he is a special case. Other teams would have taken a risk on him but he has been the biggest headcase in the league since he entered it. Thats why he got a trash yield in trade, and thats why he couldnt get a long term contract, hes the biggest risk in the NBA.

Not sure if Davis would get offered the max coming off that injury, it's completely possible he'd not be the same again, Cousins is also 3 years older then Davis so that's factored in too.

Teams were rumored already lining up to go after Cousins as a max free agent before he got injured.

I mean at this point thats all hypotheticals, you get the gist of what im saying on Cousins and why I dont think its a fair apples to apples comparison. Thats all.

If you believe KAT is willing to make demands, “I’m unhappy! Trade Butler!”, then it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t continue to make demands if he is still unhappy with the incom8ng players he now has to play with. I don’t know if trading for Whiteside, who can only play center, does this or not. However, if he had started the “I’m. Unhappy! Trade Butler” demands, it’s hard to believe he would convert to “I’m unhappy, but trade for anyone, I don’t care, even if he plays the same position as me, was drafted in the second round because of his immaturity, and showed it when he was a locker room whiner when he doesn’t get his minutes.” Yeah that’s fine.

If you think the contract removes all leverage from KAT, and how much the Wolves need him, then that’s wishful thinking, and not connected with the way front offices treat franchise players.

I dont believe he is willing to make those demands, not for a minimum of I would say 3 years. Thibs will be canned within 8 months and they will replace him with a coach with KAT and Wiggins in mind. I think this year is a total bye as we try to get back to normalcy, I see little which would ever cause such a demand. The first year of a new coach feels the same to me, he will get his guy and I think the worst case scenario still takes 2 more years before KAT would get to that point.

First year of a new coach gets a pass from KAT, but the first year of a new star player (Butler), does not? Got it.

And everything the organization does now could be added onto the Thibs hiring, and Butler discomfort. But three year pass, ya say?

KAT would likely have a great impact on who the coach was and its an entirely different role. Jimmy came in like he was hot **** and was going to run things and that they were lucky to ride his coat tails. He was also the guy the coach I believe KAT isnt a huge fan of went and traded Zach etc for and treats him like his special #1 love.

The odds of a new coach which KAT ok'd being such a disaster that KAT would jump ship within a year are so small its not worth discussing IMO. He just signed an extension under that train wreck Thibs, I dont see how you can do any worse with the next coach.

Im wondering if all they were getting offered was 2nd rounders cuz the wolves wanted Miamis 1st?

Taking on Dieng for a 1st would be a great deal for the kings IMO. They can move WCS and maybe one of Giles/scal to unclutter their front court a bit and pull in another 1st IMO. I think Bagleys athleticism and Diengs solid all around game would pair well.

They have Fox and Bagley basically, and we dont know what either of those guys can be. They have a decent number of guys who could be solid role players but they need some stars. Paying Dieng the next few years wont matter, they arent winning, and he will be off the books before they have to pay anybody who matters.

I agree, and I think SAC may be the perfect place, because:

1. Their team/city is not a good draw for free agents right now, so their cap space is worth less for free agent signings.

2. They are win-later, and can certainly use a pick to try to find some talent in the draft.

3. They can start Dieng to get more value out of him, since he’s better than any of their other options.

4. Dieng is never a problem in the club house, and a good role model for the kids to show where hard work can get you.

5. His game is complimentary, not dominating, so he helps the kids grow, rather than preventing them from doing so.

If SAC can get the right price for taking on his contract, then I agree with Rashodamus - they are a good location

Total ****.

Deal was set if Heat could get 3rd team (SAC) to take Dieng.

Without 3rd team the deal has been stuck but Twolves have not change the core pieces.

Butler + Dieng for Whiteside + Richardson

Source (H) believes deal could get done tonight..thought it was done. Stein is correct in that deal was moving forward in last 48 hours. But SAC wanted more..they are not getting more.

Go away

Dieng IMO is about the perfect kind of guy all around to have next to a PF prospect of Bagleys type. As you said hes a complimentary guy, but hes also versatile and a hard worker who will set a good example. Never bad to see your star prospect get to play alongside a vet who will sacrifice his body and take charges and play completely selflessly, especially when its a really good guy the players respect.

They need picks as its the only way they are going to find a star. Im not big on Bagley or Fox personally and think they screwed up big time not drafting Doncic or JJJ instead. But nothing else matters for them at this moment IMO, or should at least. Take on enough salary to keep you above the minimum and collect assets for doing so. Once you find a core piece or two or a real star you stop taking on salary and start trimming the fat for the new of talented salary you have to start paying.

Really good fit on all counts to me.

If we end up with both Waiters + Whiteside on the team, can someone punch Thibs in the face as he's packing his bags once he's fired?

This is what my source (H) have been telling me since yesterday afternoon.

This sucker was supposed to go down today.

It was not suppose to go into tomorrow.

Today.

But it was Richardson & Whiteside for Butler & Dieng.

Something happened..

Am I the only one who thinks he could be just telling the truth? I dont care either way, the deal will be what it is and will happen when it happens. But I dont feel like hes just larping for the hell of it or a 14 year old, he believes it IMO.

If the deal is whiteside/richardson for Dieng/Butler I am inclined to believe somebody credible told him something.

This is why I think a trade isn't getting done; Thibs has lost so much oxygen to his brain from all the barking he does on the sidelines, that he actually thinks he can convince Jimmy to come back to a team that he doesn't want to be a part of.

The revised deal..the change was Minnesota accepting Whiteside as part of the deal.

(H) doesn’t know why it didn’t happen today because it was understood it would.

Very perplexing.

Is it possible Thibs is just messing with teams to try to make a trade impossible and get Jimmy back on the team? If that is true, Taylor needs to step in.

Personally if this is the deal that went down I will be thankful for the early news on it. If it isnt then hes full of **** and it doesnt matter. I see no real harm, I like the potential that there could be something to it more than I dislike his declaring it. :)

Don't really care if Howard is plugged in or not...sounds like he either has good insight or maybe does know someone, either way at least his takes aren't offensive or obscenely stupid. As far as his being gone for a year, I would hold out on that until we see what trade actually goes down and if this was actually worked out until last minute.
If it was a last minute thing, it stinks of Thibs not actually wanting to do a deal.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
